It's more difficult if you haven't got the right tools like stretchers - but if you call a fitter direct rather than through the big carpet stores they are dirt cheap - my bedroom one (which was over 5m wide by nearly 10m long and needed a join was only £60 to do and my stairs and landing 2 weeks ago was £45) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Wolf Posted July 13, 2005 Share Posted July 13, 2005 These were 2 different people both based in High Wycombe - easiest way is to go in to your nearest carpet right or diy store and collect some of the business cards they leave on the boards - I think the prices should be similar all round the country... Females and jobs like this dont go lol I can just see it now.......big gaps between the wall and carpet on one side of the room.....and halfway up the skirting on the other side lol, plants "strategically" placed I wouldnt do it anyways lol but mucho if you manage ! Saves so much arsing around co-ordinating different people. Just sign your life away on your credit card Had our bedroom fitted last Friday - really pleased with it. BTW get some good underlay too! It took about two weeks to get fitted, but most of that was waiting for the right colour carpet to be delivered by the manufacturers. Once it was available, it was fitted after about two days - 1 hour (ish) job for a room 3m x 4m. I have a cheap but cheerful Clarke one for when I have to take parts up for running wires etc. However, I'd advocate getting a pro to fit first time.
