Soopra
I should probably be severely chastised but I have been using normal 95 Ron unleaded in my N/A. Until Monday was only doing 35 miles a week. Started new job and longer commute so used remains of 95 in my tank and got what I thought was OK economy. Pulled into my local petrol station to fill up and could only get "Super" 97 ron. I haven't seen any improvement in performance but I have noticed that £20 nearly got me as far as £30 of normal unleaded. Did I dream this? Does my car prefer the flavour or is there a valid reason why I got better economy?
Westy
Thought there would be benefits but dont know that the extra 4 Ron will get you 33% further!? I only put in super so have never been able to make the comparison.
Suprakeith
I also have only put in 99ron or v power in my supra and she seems to love, i wouldnt run the risk of putting in 95ron
Havard
Always put 95 in my NA but I use either 97 or 99 Ron in the TT. H.
Supranature
It will be the nature of your new driving habits. Lets assume before your new job you used your car 3 times weekly totalling 35 miles. With that sort of use you'll be lucky to get 12 to the gallon, even NA. Now you are getting the engine properly warmed up, and probably a lot less stop/start driving. This equates to far better mpg, which is probably only 20 mpg anyway. 95 is fine on a stock NA engine.
Dnk
As above, the longer journey will do far more for your mpg than a higher ron value.
David P
95 RON is good with stock ignition timing @ 8o to 12o BTDC and 99 RON is good for up to 19o BTDC. I haven't tinkered with 97 RON but will be a figure in between. Edited July 30, 2011 by David P (see edit history)
Neil-NA
Since using Millers petrol power eco with v-power mine has gone up from 17mpg to 21mpg, quite happy with that.
Attero
I found that i got more mpg when using 98 over 95 in my NA. So i only use 98 when i can.

Attero
It probably makes no difference when it comes to mpg against cost but at least I know that the engine is being fired up with better fuel for little to no extra cost!
