Rookey
Hey all, Just installed some new 8k HIDs and my passenger side one doesn't stop flickering! I thought I could put up with it but it's starting to annoy the hell out of me... Anyone know what could cause it?! And most importantly, a cure? Cheers Dave
tomgeer
Even though it's new it could be the bulb is faulty?, also check the connections to the ballasts are nice and clean maybe spray a bit of wd40 on them. You could try swapping the bulbs over and seeing if the drivers one starts flickering instead, if not try swapping the ballasts over aswell to eliminate them. Noz
sounds like a loose wire. try swapping the ballasts see if u get same problem.
Rookey
Nope, it doesn't seem to be that... Swapped ballasts, swapped bulbs, can't tell what it could be... The flickering bulb seems to be emitting more power/brightness too... Any ideas?
JS2004
Wiring may be weird.. I know on mine if I take the fuse out of the drivers side headlamp and put a fuse in the passenger side, both of them light up, and vice versa.. which is a tad confusing! But you could try fiddling with the fuses. It may be that the bulb is not seated correctly in the headlight, is it flickering when you have it out of the headlight socket? Nic
HID's need a minimum voltage to work properly, if the voltage is low they will flicker or not illuminate at all. The better HID kits have a connect via a relay to the battery to ensure correct voltage. Try connecting up the faulty ballast directly to the battery and see if it works properly. Rookey
How would I connect it to the battery mate? It's getting quite bad now... The bulb seems like it's blowing and goes off after flickering lots, then when I turn the lights off and on again they come back on! Please help people! I can't drive at night if the lights will spontaneously turn off... Dave

Dave You say you have swapped the ballasts and bulbs around, when you did this does the flickering light stay on passenger side or is it related to a particular ballast/bulb? If the flickering stays on the passenger side then it'll be a low voltage problem, rather than a problem with a particular part of the HID kit. Cleaning up and securing the battery terminals and earth connectors may cure the issue or alternatively get an auto electrician to wire the HID ballasts directly to the battery using a relay.
