jazz1
Lol josh, reason I asked about this thread because I hardly drive the supra snd hardly work on the engine. I burned my skin by accidently touching something is the engine that's why I asked if it was normal for the heat produced to be that hot. Kris H
Read a thread about radiators and fans from a few days ago. The engine is supposed to get hot. If it runs too cold it's not good. If you put 1L of water in the fuel tank for every 10L of fuel, it keeps it nice and cool. -and it gets cheaper to fill it up
Branners
When I drive my car back in to my garage and go to put the trickle charger on there is almost nothing in the engine bay I can lean on to reach over to plug the terminals in. Everything gets hot. An interesting fact about engines...they get hot.
Josh
I'm sure Josh wasn't serious...was he!? Of course not! At the point Branners made, I can only steady myself on the headlights or the inner wings (sides of the bay).

Now he tells me. I thought this was also the secret to getting 40mpg:(
Guest jamsames
10% water mix in the fuel tank seems to be a different way of water injection i suppose......
jagman
Engines are designed to get hot and also maintain as constant a temperature as possible , the last line of heat exchange is from the engine to air , thats the heat you are seeing if you touch the engine . Too hot would be anything over the stock engine surface temp with a perfect stock cooling system fitted . I doubt thats ever been measured ,except by Toyota
Abz
Jazz you are surely joking? Even if you touch an engine after 1 hour it will be hot regardless what it is!
jazz1
I wanted to put my mind at rest the reason being I do not drive the car much so got slightly worreid about the engine heat, I guess being summer does not help.
