jazz1
Ok why is the supra compared to all other cars produce so much engine heat? Enough to burn my hand . Is there anything that can completely take away the engine temperatures? Even with the standard fan it's not enough.
jazz1
Would it be a good idea to replace the Thermostat? My water gauge is fine but the engine heat is too hot?
JamieP
How do you know its to hot?
jazz1
Well every time I drive my car or have it running after about half hour the engine heat is really hot, I can't even touch anything in the engine. Does your engine also get hot?
JamieP
Engines get hot Jazz, if your temps read fine dont worry yourself.
jazz1
Oh ok, thanks Jamie, yes Lee fitted after market koyo radiator engine water temperatures are fine, just when I lift the bonnet it's hot.

They get hot enough to cook your breakfast whilst on your way to work. How often to you stick your hand in a pan to see if dinner is cooking? jazz1
I know, but other performance cars like my brothers Audi and sl55 don't get this hot, I just wanted to check if it was normal.
David P
If it's not boiling, it's not too hot.

Yeah but does your brothers cars have plastic engine covers? Any metal engine part will burn you if you touch it.
David P
Maybe it's because Audi's are Cool cars and Supra's are Hot cars. Edited July 29, 2011 by David P (see edit history)
jazz1
Lol, well I just went outside to check as it just hit my mind now, the two small fans next to the fan shroud are not coming on, il pm Lee to check if they were compatible to work with the koyo rad. David P
Turn on the air-con and see if they come on?
jazz1
That's the first thing I did, left it running for 5 minutes and they still didn't come on, il check with Lee as he fitted the Koyo radiator to see if they were capatible or there must be a wire disconnected. David P
The car will be fine to drive, just keep the air-con turned off till you get the fans working.
jazz1
Ok, thanks, should they only come on when the air con is on? Or when the car heats up? Il check on the ramp to see if the bottom wire is disconnected, I need to check with Lee first.
jazz1
Expalins a lot Lee just pmed me, they only come on when temps hit over 97, explains why they hardly come on as the koyo rad keeps my temp at 9 and it's been lower than the stock rad I had so must be more cooling. Josh
Read a thread about radiators and fans from a few days ago. The engine is supposed to get hot. If it runs too cold it's not good. If you put 1L of water in the fuel tank for every 10L of fuel, it keeps it nice and cool.
