Help about knocking sound

Recommended Posts

Hi

ive noticed a knocking sound comming from the engine. don't know 100% where it comes from, could be from the cams or somthing in the cylinderhead. the knock is when then engine is cold. when engine is hot there is verry little sound to it id say its nothing. but when cold it makes some really bad noise IMO.

i haven't removed the cam cover to check valve clearence.

iam thinking its either valve clearence, since when the engine heats up the clearence gets closer to the tollerance. to describe the sound abit futher.

Knocks when cold

Don't knock when warm

get silenced during rev (both cold and warm) with otherwords dont follow RPM

can't hear the knocking sound when driving by parked cars/tunnel etc

it only knocks below 1.5k rpm when cold, nothing when warm.

my first thought was that it would probebly be the oil was "too" thin. so i changed to Motul Lemans 20w60 since thats the oil ive always had in my old Mk3 there where no steelbits or anything else in the oil i removed.

also thinking if its the oil pump the oil should atleast make the sound less apearing but its not.

Any ideas?
