Ark Posted July 27, 2011 Share Posted July 27, 2011 I've been wondering about fitting LED headlight bulbs to replace my HIDs primarily to save the weight and space that HID ballasts take up. Has any compared the two? Can even a super-bright LED match the output of a HID? I know it seems like a long-shot, considering that LED bulbs cost a fraction of what a HID kit costs... SupraP-Z Posted July 28, 2011 Share Posted July 28, 2011 Unless theres absolutely loads of them, they wont be able to match the light output of the HID's - guaranteed. If you have LED sidelights, just turn them on and see how far you can see...then turn on your HID's, you will notice a massive difference. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You can always drop in a repalcement set of headlights for the MOT I suppose but what would happen if you were stopped by one of those random VOSA testing things that pop up here and there? I'd imagine that this would be an issue for the MOT. Also as mentioned with the LED's you don't get the distance or the projection of light as you do with the HID's.
