A few questions and help needed!

Chaps,

as some of you know im doing a N/A - TT conversion. i am also swappimg my auto box for a 5 speed (with uprated clutch of course) so here is my problem..... im going from a Auto N/A to A 5 Speed TT, i have all the stuff for the conversion etc and the engine, but... the engine came with a manual ecu.

will i run into wiring problems if i install it with the manual ecu? i know it sounds like a silly question, as obviously it should work but the supra was a auto to start with.

Hope your keeping up so far and not too confusing! :p

also there is a flywheel already attached to the engine, how can i tell if its a 6 speed one or not? the chances are that it proberly is as it has a manual ecu attached to it.

but if you guys could shed some light on this for me it would be awsome!!

6 speed flywheel is a dual mass flywheel, 5 speed isnt (if you dont know what a dual mass flywheel is or look like do a search on here or on google).

If your changing to a manual gearbox then the manual ecu is what you need- i did the same conversion sort of ive got 5 speed tt bpu with 6 speed manual ecu and auto engine loom

hope this helps

Ithink Parry is correct with ecu....just been through similar headache finding out if the tiptronic ecu will run the auto box (which it wont). Apparently its not just a simple change ecu over, may well be the loom is different. May be of some help.Good luck anyway.

regarding the ecu for an na-tt conversion as far as im aware this is what can be used:

TT 6 speed ecu- manual gearbox (6 speed and 5 speed) but cant be used to run an auto gearbox

TT auto ecu- can be used for a manual gearbox and auto gearbox

non vvti and vvti engines/ecu's cant be mixed and matched.

And the engine wiring loom doesnt matter if its a manual or an auto loom both will work if you run the auto loom with a manual gearbox like me you will just be left with a few spare plugs around the gearbox.

Also theres a small wiring mod you need to do to make the TT loom work with the NA fusebox
