Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Just had new discs and pads all round, but the caliper wont release enough to fit the front off side disc.

so please anyone who can supply a 4 pot front caliper in good working order will be helping me out massively.

Thanks;)

update: got this sorted now new discs on and looking good.

You have uk 4 pots by the sound of things not jspec, if the pistons are seized then id say the other side might not be working 100% also so id say get yourself a refurb kit from toyota £50 ish and refurd them, then that way you know they will be working perfect.

Or buy a brand new caliper from mr T then they are around £220.

Hi Num

They should be J/Spec as i have left them alone since i had her imported. its a 1999 facelift n/a with the 17" brake package bigger discs than the 307mm around 323 or 324. but then again i know little about this and only ordered from the specs i found online. but the discs fit from the J/Spec. will look into having the other side looked at when i fix this. thanks for the advice. :)

Nice one that saves me arguing with Toyota about the size i need. should of guest they were upgraded, the man in Japan did upgrade everything else. HKS suspension full tints with about 7 brand names embossed in the tint and i keep finding upgraded bits all over. As i have no idea what comes standard on this model I thought the guy who imported her for me was blagging about the amount of work done on her looks like i got a good deal.:) Thanks for the info. Next meet i go to going to get someone to take a look and see whats been done.

I'd have a look at the rears while your at it as well ;)

The reason the bigger calipers seize is down to the outer dirt

seal failing, this lets moisture and dirt get into the piston

bore which corrodes the piston making it stick, eventually it

will seize solid.

Strangely the front 4 pot is the same price as the rear 2 pot

I can get for £190 inc vat each for O/E Toyota.

PS: Thanks for your comments in my garage  TRD carbon wing

is fitted at the moment :)
