djg99
Yeah did it myself with the help of my brother in law who's built loads of engines for his track cars. Found a few threads so fingers crossed. If that doesn't work I'll be posting in the technical section :-( Cheers wiggy might drop you a pm ;-)
stevie_b
Go back to basics: the engine needs air, fuel and a spark. Does the fuel pump start up with the ignition on? If you remove the spark plugs (one at a time), do they produce a spark when held against the engine block?
RobUK
Check the ECU harness. Also have you got anything like apexi SAFC ? If so make sure things like this are plugged in... Good luck I am sure it will be something daft

Swampy442
O2 sensor or crank sensor?
marc_p
I think it's for the stock boost solenoid at a guess. One thing I'll point out though as I also just put mine back together and had the same problem, if your looking at the car from the front, there is a a black box that sit's to the right near the strut top, it has 2 connections that go into it and 1 that goes on it's frame, make sure that the connectors have a good connection and that it's bolted down properly to make a decent ground connection. You can see it here in between the fusebox and the chrome thing on the far right:
Chris Wilson
There should be ground wires under the intake manifold, on eyelet tags, hard to see, easy to forget. Result? No start.

That looks like the harness side connector for the crank position sensor - it's fairly important!
jon5698
As Chris said make sure all your earths are connected had the same problem on my old starlet turbo and i had just forget to connect the earth on the block.
Chris Wilson
I have a none starter coming in tomorrow, so will be in the same boat I hate electrics.
djg99
I've had a look around but can't find anything to clip it into?? Where should it be?? Cheers
Chris Wilson
As stock, assuming it IS the crank position sender loom socket, the wire form the sender itself is clipped to the lower driver's side front of the engine block with a plastic rivet. If I can find a photo I'll post it up.
Chris Wilson
Here you go. If it is the crank position sensor that's disconnected there will be no spark, and no injector pulsing, and, of course, it will NEVER start.
djg99
Cheers Chris and the others who said it was the crank sensor! Got under the car and found a clip taped up from when I painted the block. It was a pain in the back side to get to but once free and connected the car started :-) so well happy. Got someone coming to look at it tomorrow, on start up tho there was some smoke coming from the back of the engine :-( so turned it straight off!!! jon5698
Possible gaskett gone on the exhaust, or any spilt oil etc burning off? glad it started though.
Chris Wilson
Just a few oily hand marks on the exhaust / turbos / manifolds will initially make quite a lot of smoke. Best to have a proper look in daylight though

There will have bound to be some black smoke on start up and maybe some blue aswell, after my N/A had been sat for a month and half, you should of seen the amount of black smoke it kicked out the first time I put my foot down, but after that it was fine.
