KamaSupra
I've seen it on Top Gear going round the track and it was amazing, 2nd fastest on the leader board for fastest track times I think

And the one that is the 2nd fastest is the 100k+ v8 one, definitely not considering one of those

Chris Wilson
The welding on the chassis is beautiful. They are over priced though, IMO. The ones I have seen have no proper uniballs in the wishbones, and the concept is a bit iffy with a very tall transverse engine and box giving a high rear C of G which ultimately spoils the handling. If you want something cold, draughty, impractical and different as fun road car it's probably a good but expensive buy, if you want something fast as a track car and don't mind trailering it, there are FAR better and faster things for a LOT less money. Hi Chris, was hoping you would post... what I want from the car is an fun & fast track car, that is not too bad on the road (on nice warm sunny days). Im not interested in a track car only (maybe later). Low general running costs, unlike my current impreza (2002 sti, 383bhp, loads of suspension and brake mods) which is expensive to own and run. Lots of limits on the engine and fuel system for track usage and fixing them is rather expensive too. Any ideas on what to choose?

Gaz6002
Westfield or Caterham with a nice and simple 4 pot Absolutely. You won't have more fun for your money IMO. From what I know the Caterhams drive better, but also cost quite a lot more than the Westfields.
j_jza80
I watched a supercharged one at Elvington this weekend decimate every Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche on the track. Half the time it wasn't even at WOT, and was still flying past them all.
grahamc
Which one? Caterham or ariel? Assuming ariel...
Sheefa
I'm looking at a Caterham 7 following my Palmersport motor day. Quite a few on Pistonheads and good ones around the £10k-£12k mark. The 240bhp + ones look insane!
Chris Wilson
Rob Cox-Allison's "Super Brick" final incarnation of his Special GT Lotus 7, and was the definitive development of this sort of car. It was devastatingly fast, beautifully made and set lap times that are still quite remarkable to this day. http://www.motorsport-fanatic.co.uk/combe-specialGT-lotus.html Top right. I had an Elan similar to some of the ones shown, with a Cosworth BDG in it on F2 suspension, in those days people built, rather than bought, and some wild machines were created. http://www.motorsport-fanatic.co.uk/combe-specialGT-skoda2.html bottom photo, red Skoda, was later mine, when I put a proper back wing on it the car went from dangerous to delightful and won the championship twice.
