neilp9876
Does the bike have to go in the boot? Or you happy to either put a bike rack\roof rack? Also the bike which is going in, are the wheels quick release? No it doesnt have to go in the boot and will have quick release. I agree that a 330d is probably the best but I already have a 530d and the 330d is expensive. I am erring towards a saab 9-3 2.8T convertible, the bike and luggage can go on the back seat. Or maybe something else.
sideexitsupra
I have just spent 18 months driving a 93. Only redeeming feature were the seats. Similar to the 300 it has a cheap dashboard. I should think you would struggle to get more than 25mpg from a 2.8turbo too. Running costs on the Saab will be high too. Remember it is based on a modified Vauxhall Cavalier floor plan so not exactly cutting edge dynamics.

Remember it is based on a modified Vauxhall Cavalier floor plan so not exactly cutting edge dynamics. Now that I have AGREE with, my friend had a 93 convertible which he got rid of recently, his was a late 2006 1.9 TDi and tuned by Hirsch (called something like that, they are Saab's tunning arm. They completed a re-map which brought his car up from 150bhp to 175bhp. His car had only 8k on the clock when he brought it 2 years ago he got rid of it as it started having issues. His newish battery died on him first, then the alternator nearly died, biggest problem was his intercooler cracked and that cost him a lot of money to replace. He then had issues with some EGR or something value which then went on to cause issues with his cat as it caused it to clog up. Then he had some starting issues and then got humiliate when the AA guy said it is just a glorified Vauxhall Vectra! The interior was awful, everything creaked & if you leaned on the centre console too much it felt like it was going to give way. The seats were very nice but he was annoyed at 10k one of the stitchings of the leather started coming off! My old Supra felt so much more solid than his car and mine had done 90k! Was quick off the line but runs out of puff at 3.5krpm! Smooth boost, but noisy at idle. Though if you seriously want a 4x4, I'd highly recommend this! You should be able to knock it down to £7k. Plus it will do 35MPG on a motorway cruise! http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201129403291166/sort/priceasc/usedcars/price-to/10000/fuel-type/diesel/model/touareg/make/volkswagen/radius/1501/page/1/postcode/e143hr?logcode=p

The previous comments have comprehensively put me off a Saab though, I knew it was a Vectra but thought it might be built well. The other problem with Saab is that theyre going out of business so i guess residuals will be very low. Are RAV4's worth looking at?

LOGIE
Audi A6 allroad 2.7 bi-turbo. amazing cars with offroad capabilities. Just get the air suspension checked before you buy. dangerous brain
I know next to nothing about Aristo's, what are the differences between them and the officially imported gs300? /QUOTE] There is no such thing as an imported Lexus GS300 buddy. The lexus was developed for the american and european market. Home grown cars didn't need a new badge to sell so they remained as toyotas until very recently. I expect the biggest real difference as far as this forum would be concerned is the fact that the GS never came with the TT engine in it and most of the aristo's did. FWIW the 2JZ-GTE was in fact fitted to the aristo a year or more before it made it into the supra and likewise the VVTi engine went in the aristo before it went in the facelift supra. Because it has the 2JZ-GTE in it you can upgrade it to BPU and beyond with exactly the same methods as a supra. My last aristo had a T67 dbb turbo on it and was a veritable rocket. The hubs and drive train are identical to the supra(main drive shaft is obviously different) so the same coil over mods, exactly the same offset wheels, brakes etc etc fit on an aristo. Mine has tein super street comforts on for example and TRD strut braces. You can set an aristo up to handle precisely the same as any given supra. I harp on about my previous car but at Castle Donington I think it was Bignum couldn't shift me in the bends and his car was setup sweet for tracks. Now stick the equivalent running costs as a diesel hatch with the LPG conversion and all of a sudden you have to start justifying why you are keeping your supra lol. Body parts are pretty much identical to the lexus BTW so styling mods for that car fit the aristo.

There's lots of better cars for £7k than an Aristo.

Yes there is but this aristo is only £3750 so alot cheaper than £7k But if the audi floats your boat then http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2000-AUDI-A6-ALLROAD-LPG-QUATTRO-250Bhp-AVANT-ESTATE-/110715903588?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item19c72e9e64
