neilp9876
Looking for a car for less than 7k thats 1. Either quick or quirky 2. Does 30mpg + 3. Is not too bad on the motorway. 4 Need to be able to get a bike in the boot. Had a look at a X5 4.4 but then found out they only do 10-15mpg, seems the same with most 4x4's. Looking at Clio Cup's but apparently theyre a bit naff on motorway journeys, like the Volvo C30 T5 but theyre too expensive. I need some inspiration about what to look at

Havard
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2973325.htm Not sure about the MPG of the 3.0 V6 but a cracking engine. Or you could go for a diesel? http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2922198.htm
bigbloodyturbo
E46 330d. 44mpg and fairly quick. Faster than a 4.4 x5 anyway. If you get it as a touring you can fit 2 bikes in and 2 on the roof aswell as passengers and still be fast with all that torque. Just make sure its the 2003+ one you get. neilp9876
The Audi is nice. Cannot do a Subaru Forester or Panda as the brother in law has both of those. The mondeo isnt different enough, the Chrysler is... well I dont have words for why I wont be getting one of them. Ive already got a 5 series BMW which the wife uses, so dont want another one. This car will mainly be used for commuting by me, but will occassionaly be used by a friend for several months at a time for travelling around Europe. Its a tricky combination. Are there any 4x4's that have decent mpg? I wouldnt mind having a go off roading at some point.

Offer £6500 and you may have to work your way up to £7K. With this engine combination and gear box they are very rare. Lovely drive too. H. Paul R
How about a nissan Qashqai 2.0 dci? get it chipped to 200bhp for around £250. Big boot(with seats down at least), 4x4 and 40mpg :-). Not sure if you can get them for 7.5k yet though! They are great cars - I have an 09 Qashqai + 2 2.0dci. Cant fault it really.

Was looking at the Nissan Murano, hadnt considered the Quashqai so will take a look. The Murano has the same engine as the 350Z so the mpg was putting me off it a bit. But they start at about 40k brand new! Paul.

They havent held their prices at all.

I need some inspiration about what to look at 330d is the best and some great deals aswell. brilliant engine if you get a 2003 53 onwards with the 204bhp engine they can remap to about 260 and give a 0-60 in 5.9 secs. also much better then any audi to drive and quicker then the audi's aswell. i had one they are a great car and very easy to resell. try get 1 or 2 owner as you know that anything on the cars need doing are prob 99% done

The 53 plate 330d is 0-60 in 7.2 seconds, no way a remap will take that down to 5.9 IMO. The 06+ e92 maybe, I think they are low 6s as standard but twice the OP budget. I don't think so, maybe 6.5 yes. Though still very quick. Does the bike have to go in the boot? Or you happy to either put a bike rack\roof rack? Also the bike which is going in, are the wheels quick release? If so you have more options to go for something smaller like say a Audi A3, like so: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3018832.htm If you need a large boot, then I'd personally go for the 300c, has the underpinnings of a Mercedes E Class

Like a big barge with cheap plastic everywhere and the build quality of a 9 year olds airfix kit! They also cost a fortune when they go wrong, and they do! It may be an E class Merc underneath, but it's the E class that killed their reputation! Go for the 330d, plenty of specialists about to look after it and bags of smiles. Since then I have driven the diesel version a few times & have a few times been picked up by cabs using them. Yes, some of the dash is plastity but which new cars these aren't. The good seats, nice seats & dials make it a plush enough place to be in.
