clay
Hi All thought I should ask this question, on the way to Tracy's (TJP) BBQ on Saturday evening, after a spirited drive down the M20, (at no more than 70 officer) HONEST guv, cos i know a police man,,,,,,,, but may have hit 140 on private land,,,,, I seem to have developed a small oil leak "opps", and although the visual affect was entertaining when i arrived as the oil burnt off the exhaust, I thought I should investigate, having had the car on a lift last night and cleaned off what appears to be trans fluid from under the car and the back panel, I have it back on the lift tonight having travelled approx 40 miles and can see no further signs of the leak, So question is any ideas? trans fluid in the box and what has leaked out is still pink, and does not smell burnt, and the box is performing as well as it always does, could it be i drive it to slowly?????????? Swampy442
Theres a breather on top of the auto box, maybe the box overpressurised slightly and dumped a bit of oil out? Has happened to me before
dude
Have you changed or topped up the trans fluid lately
Chris Wilson
The auto box fluid level is probably way too high. Did you check the level with the engine running or stationary?
Shane
This may seem a daft question, but do you run 4 life coolant? I made the mistake once thinking I had a transmission fluid leak when in fact it was 4 life coolant *.*ing out. On first observation the 2 fluids are very similar. mwilkinson
Firstly I would not assume the leak or cause has gone given there is no more fluid coming out. That's just asking for trouble. Car don't generally dump fluid for no reason. Check your fluid levels to see if any are low and go from there.
