Ian W
Okay, So a friend had their car driven into by a 3rd party. The 3rd party left a note, admitted liability and stated they'd contact their insurers regarding it. Does the friend need to contact their insurers also? Answers on a post card please Thanks Ian
Awisto
I don't think they need to legally, but I would hand all the details over to my insurance company and let them earn their money dealing with the situation.
Dnk
I'd have thought so, did the third party leave their contact details ?
Ian W
I'd have thought so, did the third party leave their contact details ? Yep, contact details including name and address and after a quick phone call we also have car details including registration. Ideally, the friend in question would like to avoid paying their policy excess (even though they'd get it back) and having to say 'yes' to the old "have you had an accident in the last five years?" question
gavin.starr
How bad is the damage, some times it's cheaper and easier to give the people that did it a quote for the damage, so then you dont have to g through insurance.
Ian W
Bumper and wing will need paint. Also a dent in the wing, although it'll likely pull out.

Ian W
As it turns out, the friend's insurers are the same company as the third party
mwilkinson
Here is one for you. By only leaving a note on the window of the car they have committed the offence of failing to stop. The law requires them to find you or go to the nearest police station at the earliest opportunity to report it. In reality a note is fine but I thought you might be interested in that one. Also you are not required to hand your details to the other party as you were not present. Again not really an issue if you do! On a more practical side; You will still need to inform your insurance company about the accident if they have told theirs. If your insurance say they want to use Albany Assistance as a third party claims and finance agent say no. They are a bunch of cowboys and you have to sign some dodgy paperwork about finance agreements etc...
Abz
Now that is rare someone hitting you & leaving you a note! Wish they did the same when someone hit mine

Wish someone had done that when they ripped the front bumper off my DC2. It also means she needlessly through a tin of peas across the kitchen in a fit of rage
