Ricky49
Lol ... Thanx Rick Not trying to sound negative mate but surely if it was worth doing wouldn't the big player of already thought of this. And as for Auto Trader and Pistonheads not been a franchise, that's what I mean they haven't bothered to do it which you think they would if it could actually work. Gaz6002
The reason Autotrader doesn't need to franchise itself out is that you can filter the search results by various proximities from your postcode, making it as local as you want it to be all the time. Pistonheads survives because of the type of cars listed on there, the way the 'classifieds' section is laid out and the forum activity to prop it up. And as for Auto Trader and Pistonheads not been a franchise, that's what I mean they haven't bothered to do it which you think they would if it could actually work. They are big national sites, not interested in local individual towns...the franchise opportunity is to maximise revenues and volumes on a local scale, supported by local businesses and advertised on by local people. As mentioned Google looks favourably on localised sites and many of them already do very well in other areas...property for example (even though you have rightmove etc) If people had the attitude that becuase there is a big player in that industry i wont bother trying to compete, there would be no new businesses ever launched, and no change over of market leaders.... Mr Dyson did a pretty good job in his chosen field!!

Jamesy
Was basically wondering guys if anyone knws what avenues i can explore to get this infront of the kind of people interested in investing in franchise opportunities? There must be dedicated facilitators for franchises - just wondered if anyone has any experience of knowledge?
Gaz6002
You'll need a definite USP Jamsey, and clear evidence that your investors will see a quantifiable return.
Jamesy
Yeah true Gaz The site was designed to have the USP as the most easily searched car website - it has more search fields than any other site. It is also the most sperated and specific car field website - fields like ST1, ST2 St3 Focus RS etc for Focus, Saxo VTR, VTS etc etc And the Parts section also follows the same format

Littler
Yeah valid point. The actual cost of building a website like ours, including the massive amount of detail gone into the database, and content management side of things would mean you could probably buy 5-10 CCG franchsies with that money!! Our web designer is very clued up on search engine optimisation and the sites are all built to maximise search results via Google. Just a curious question on the current site you have running, is the SEO strategy generating a good stream of income?
Paul R
For what it's worth - not being negative(honest) but being realistic. No one is going to buy a franchise for the site(at the moment). You need to concentrate on your own site to get it established. I'm not sure who your web designer is - but the site doesnt rank in google at all, it doesnt come up in any of the listings for "supra for sale" in google. It should have something there by now as it's been live for months. Your site is a fairly simple one and I could either just write myself or get a developer in india to do it for a few hundred quid to make a similar site, that would then be mine and I could have a generated income from it. Work on your brand, get the site established, get yourself 100k+ pageviews a day and then you may be in with a chance. If you need a good SEO company, I know a very good one indeed. I know how to get a site ranked but I'm not an expert.
