hagar
i own a 1jz mk3 supra and am in the middle of updating it. my water pump also has an oil pump attached that i wanted to remove. people use the 2jz pump and an electric fan in the mk3 world and i was wondering if there is a heavy duty 2jz water pump around as i plan on upping the horsepower a bit? Swampy442
Stock water pump will be fine, get a Soarer 1JZ pump, viscous fan, job done
hagar
i'm planning on getting away from the viscous fan hence the need for a pump without the oil side of things, i just want a simple water pump!
Swampy442
There is no oil side of things on a viscous fan, its a self contailed unit that bolts to the water pump. Im guessing your cooling fan is hydraulic powered like the Aristo/V8 Soarer? The stock 1/2JZ water pump is just that, a simple pump.
hagar
the 1jz is a combined oil and water pump, the 2jz is a simple water pump. viscous fan no good as the waterpump is mounted off to one side. i was planning on putting 3 slimline electric fans (1 large 2 small) onto the rad itself. i have bought a 2jz fan this morning and will fit that on. Swampy442
The Soarer 1JZ doesnt have the hydraulic cooling fan Look at the SRD electric fan thread, maybe that can help you
