Puppy update!!!!

Hooch now comes in at 3 stone 2lbs. He is lazy, stubbon, snores and farts. Not overly different to me in that respect. He has out grown 2 harnesses already. Problem with this type of dog is they are not allowed to play to much as they will hurt bones ect.

Needless to say i turn my back for minute and he is scrabbling up a hill after a jack russell, he now has a limp on his front leg so no walks until he is better. Not that he cares, just means he can sleep more.

Love him to bits hes always happy, never nasty and gets on well with all other dogs. Although he bumped into 3 ridgebacks at the beach the other day....he was scared out of his mind.

The ridgebacks do run like crazy when off lead - they are a hound after all , but they also have a habit of bumping or leaning into dogs along side them (humans too) ,they try to bring down whatever is next to them ,I think its part of the hunting tactic they use in packs when they were wild- and they hone this skill when they can .

If you watch them, they pick the leg with the weight on and time it so they shoulder charge at that leg -they are damn fast too !!

And hes home.

Hooch as a 1/2mm bone differance in both front legs. This is not uncommon in large growing dogs, so hes put it down to growing pains. We have to go back in a month or so for a check up but it looks good that if he gets to a year old without it getting worse he will be fine.

Good news is his back legs are fine

youve got a good vet there buddy! i had the same problem with my boxer when he was young and the vets ended up doing blood tests and all sorts, gave me a bill for +£700 !!!

he was insured but because it happened between his 3 months free and his normal insurance i had to pay two lots of excess as well. ended up just being growing pains after all the fuss and that was the last time i used that vets.
