BigRoy
Any tips? Ive tried petrol and cellulose thinners but no joy First time Ive had this problem cant even sand it off as its soft to the touch and just rolls up. Any more serious chemicals or suggestions? Doesnt matter if it effects the paint as its getting re painted.
JamesG
I got some label remover a while ago from Maplin and it was incredibly good. No idea what it contains except it smelt of oranges. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=25350&doy=11m7
Jake
Petrol and cellulose thinner is where I'd have started too. Other things to try are Acetone (a.k.a. Nail Varnish Remover, your BF will probably have some), White Spirit (long shot) or Meths
Paul
I'd go easy with acetone and meths as they could react with the plastic. I've always got this type of thing off with plain white spirit, very little chance of shagging the plastic too. Leave it on for a minute to soak. ivan
Just try rolling it off with your fingers. Maybe some selotape will help lift it too.
merckx
Use a heat gun to warm it up a little and use a piece of blunt plastic to try and peel it off.

Jake
Nightmare innit? When I took the nasty mirror film off my rear window the only thing that would shift the adhesive was aerosol brake cleaner. I unsucessfully tried all the above mentioned things before I discovered that brake cleaner worked. Even then it was a PITA but mostly because the inside of the rear window is difficult to get to
