Chris Wilson
http://www.racecarsdirect.com/listing/37896/gtd40.html As kit cars go this looks like a really nice job with superb spec.
TheTurtleshead
Nice, used to own one. Took part in the Le Mans classic, 40 years of the GT40 Parade lap. 50 other cars, and 130 mph down the mulsanne straight... Class!
kill1308
Looks nice, didn't realise the gearstick was on the right hand side in these, bet that's wierd to get used to.
Chris Wilson
Only like driving a LHD car, becomes second nature in minutes. Most race cars have RH gear change.
4packet
But why Rover power?? As recreations go its not hard to have a Ford badge on the mill. Big fan of GT40's, but not convinced I'd fit comfortably under the 40" roof.
SupraAyf
That looks like a good job to me. It has sold on the advert so have you bought it, Chris?
Chris Wilson
I am not a fan of the Rover V8 at all, but an iron block Ford, whilst historically correct, would be a LOT heavier, and even more so with two turbos nailed on it. At least it seems to have a decent transaxle, not something from a Renault 30 or an old Porsche.

Looking at the electric bill with a frown on my face, let alone another race car

The Ford is by no means light, but surely comparable in NA form to this turbocharged Rover with awkward plumbing. Is 600bhp a realistic figure long term on that block/internals? I find 'IRO' is never that convincing in an advert, so I'd assume a realistic figure would be closer to the reach of a NA Ford lump. Horses for courses of course. Agreed on the gearbox.
