Geo
Zombies are getting smarter, at first they walked so slow, you could walk past em, now they have the abilitie to sprint like linford christie, im sure given time they would find a way into that house, more fresh meat to chew on. bradleyh_15
I'm thinking the shutter side is a weak point but as Geo said look at the zombies in I am legend! Crafty buggers nowadays
Attero
You have to remember that electricity and water supplies could be cut off... I bet most of that house won't work and if it does shut up, the occupants will be dead within days. Ahh... Intelli-thinking!
TubbyTwo
Obviously you would have to make some modifications to the power and water supplies, Shutter could well be the weak point tho. Hmmm.

Purity14
Any zombie survivalist worth his salt will have a generator, or indeed roof solar panels. And they will have filled all his baths, sinks, bottles, cups and saucepans with water as soon as you hear of the first infection. He has the best house, with the compound to successfully outlast(using the points above) or indeed put up a decent fighting force against the Zombie hoard. Guest jamsames
all it needs is a basement with an escape route, a couple years supply of dried/tinned food and water. even if the zombie apocolypse never happened, at least you know your family/supra/belongings are safe for when you go on holiday or go bed

What are people thinking weapons wise? Guns are great but ammo runs out, and they are too loud. Im thinking something along the lines of a silent killer, Katana? Charlotte
It depends on what kind of outbreak we're talking about. If they're true zombies in the sense of 'walking dead' then they don't have a brain and therefore no intelligence. If it's more of a genetic outbreak like in I am legend the 'zombies' were still alive cos he found a cure for them so they still had some ability to think. It's a cool house though. bradleyh_15
I'm thinking a nice weapons hoard like in tremors! Ha but in all fairness your going to need a lot of different range weapons. Long range a nice riffle fully silenced with ballistic point bullets, mid range a nice M16 or carbine with the ability of fully auto and single/ 3round bursts, then a nice MP5 and reliable hand gun of your choice as well as a nice big machete and possible a chainsaw (doom esc) along with a he'll of a lot of land mines clay mores and grenades. Or you could go the whole natural boobie traps like in predator But as Charlotte points out there could be a cure if it is an outbreak and your going to run out of ammo so who on hear has the brain to come up with the cure

He has many many videos.... some of which are the best weapons for dispatching Justin Bieber.
AndrewOW
That's a fantastic house, but I'm not sure about the motives on it's design. I wonder if Kevin McCloud is buried beneath it?
tbourner
I hope it has lots of cameras on the outside as well!! Main problem with zombies is that they don't quit - once they know you're there they'll gather en masse outside the walls and never go away (unless someone comes to save you). So climbing a tree is the worst idea ever as you'll be stuck up there. Same principle with holeing up in a house, you definitely WON'T outlast the Zs waiting for you on the outside, no matter how many rations you have (again, unless you're banking on being saved). So keeping on the move is key, the house will do for a good while as it provides safety most homes don't, but you need a getaway plan - the drawbridge is nice as the Zs will hopefully be dumb enough to hang around the point closest to you and not the actual entrance. Ideally you want a chopper pad as well though as having only one entrance is always going to be dodgy. Either way, I like it.

I love the way we are taking this seriously and putting even the slightest bit of thought into it! I'm feeling probably being out in the wild would be better as there will be less zombies unless it crosses into animals resident evil esk
stevie_b
Attach Veilside bodykit parts to the side of the house. They'll scare off anything.

Personally a short sawnoff is more viable, for manouverability and for damage per shot. You are able to homeload your own shells, so it can keep cost down - just make sure you have enough supplies to defend your fortification. Remember, you arent looking for crowd control weapons- there are more zombies than you have ammunition - you are looking for SHTF scenarios when you find yourself in danger of being actively eaten. Sniper rifles are useless, you'll be constantly worrying about the ammount of rounds you have left, and the rifle will turn into a glorified telescope, until you rip the scope off and ditch the rifle. Close quarters, you need to deterimine your strength/endurance/stamina, as well as your environment. You wouldnt want to be using a samarui sword indoors because you couldnt swing it. But to be fair, if you were in that zombie house, you would have minimal need for a hand to hand melee weapon. In an ideal world you would want some kind of robust tazer prongs built into the end of a metal baseball bat, that was weighted on the end. tbourner
Charlotte was right it depends on the type of Zombie as well, do they follow noise or smell or both? Can they see well? Do they have all motor functions or are they flailing limp slow things etc. With the guns vs hand weapons, you need to factor in that they don't feel pain, so if you swing and miss and only hack off an arm they'll be on you before you've managed to swing again. Could you really swing a neck/head shot flawlessly every time? If the virus is spread by scratching as well as biting you won't want to be anywhere near their flailing limbs! Any little wounds you have would be a real danger too.

Abz
I like the idea of a few getaway methods, I'd most like do the 2 methods. 1. Underground tunnel which leads at least 2 miles to a secure place\entrance. This tunnel would need to be very discreet and the secure place\entrance needs to be unoticeable. Ideally have the tunnel rigged with camera's, also gas insurgents and fire blowers built into the tunnel incase anyone gets in. To travel along the tunnel, I'd design a Batmobile style vehicle which has at least a 15 inch thick armer which can resist bombs and can't get flat tyres. Weapons on board, also food and water supplies should I need to travel over days. 2. A helicopter upstairs in the loft (armoured by the way) Enough room so then I can get the rotors going inside the house and then when I am ready the whole loft goes up the in the air via a hydraulic lift so that means I am protected still and once I have enough height and ensure no zombies are near me I'll rise up and away. In order for this plan to work properly I'll already have a safehouse ready somewhere far away. This place will have camera's so then I can check before my arrival that it is errr safe. Charlotte
Charlotte was right it depends on the type of Zombie as well, do they follow noise or smell or both? Can they see well? Do they have all motor functions or are they flailing limp slow things etc. It's such a varied thing these days. Zombies are just not how they used to be. A true zombie smells 'fresh meat' so alive humans. So there's potential for getting a few zombies and pasting them on the outside of the house so the zombies would think everything in there was dead and ignore it all together. TubbyTwo
What you need is a battleship, harness wind power, recycle sea water, plenty of fish to eat. (when was the last time you saw zombie fish?) When was the last time you saw sea zombies? perfectly safe. Escape from house via said helicopter so waiting battleship, Job done.
