I don't do deadlift anymore as the back ache for the next 2 days was not funny anymore !!!! I still keep my hand in by using the front of the race car !!!

Holy sheeeet . My mate here at work thinks you're cheating and that the car is on some sort of jack. I'm sure he wouldn't say that to your face lol.

So umm...yeah....5 x whatever you guys lift...it all makes sense now....seeing as I deadlift less than half of what you do for a warmup!

Hah Hah im fed up with picking it up to prove it, cars not that heavy really feels like about 160-180 kg's its easy to move like that as it has no steering lock, Mark Newman had a go at liffting it and said the same thing, I reckon id get it up with the motor in it if I had too.

IMO a deadlift is on eof the few that the 1 rep max is usefull, its great for building all over mass and great strength, straight leg dead lift is great for lower back and bum but with less weight and more reps, you need to be in the correct frame of mind and we even would spend about 6 hours eating just for deadlift, not unusual to see guys throw up with the effort, and VERY easy to hurt yourself.

Yeah I am scared I'll do my back in. 6 hours eating purely for deadlift? I don't think I'm in the right frame of mind at all.

Nevermind- triceps and shoulders today. Only had a glass of milk and banana for breakfast, 1/2 chicken and veg for lunch, green tea x 2 and gonna have a protein shake before gym.

As John says, very very easy to hurt yourself with heavier deadlifts. A very technical exercise, but once is mastered gives great benefits. I won't say how many times I've shaken my head looking at people's "technique" at the gym - let's just say these idiots are keeping me employed, not to mention spinal orthopaedic surgeons.

You need a better breakfast dude, porridge and a decent shake as your muscles will be crying out for it !!!!

Crap form on the deadlift is scaring me at the moment, i have only just started to train my legs and know i am not doing this 100% to form so the weight is staying low.

The only really reliable method to learning a deadlift technique (as there are a few varieties - Romanian, Sumo, Powerlifting-style) is with an accredited lifting coach - usually through a powerlifting or weightlifting club. Personal trainers are generally very UNreliable, based on the ones I've seen over 5 or so London gyms.

Sorry Mario, that video is next to useless for a beginner - only shows the one angle! The most difficult thing for a novice is to be able to self-correct, and when you don't have the co-ordination and motor control, how do you know where your technique is failing? Always requires an experienced second pair of eyes, in my opinion.

Geo is your man but I would say its been covered pretty well here already, as much HEALTHY stuff as you can manage and a few shakes and other supplements, get as much chicken, tuna etc in you as you can, I eat a lot of banannas too, decent carbs earlier in the day, porridge for breaky and a shake and some fruit, baked potatoe and I like a lot of steak. miss the junk food out as much as poss but have a cheat day once a week and eat what you want, have a protein shake and bananna as soon as you finish training, I put a stone on with BSN Nitrix.

Can i ask if/ what creatine monohydrate you guys use, i am currently using kre alkalyn pro tabs and have 2 before working out and then 4 normal kre alkalyn on non training days.

I now want to try and switch to a mono but don't know what brand to buy, pref something with no fillers or crap in it, i find good success with Reflex branded products, has anyone used the creapure caps - http://www.reflex-nutrition.com/product--Creapure-Creatine-Capsules.html

I had to force down 2 eggs yesterday. Felt weird. My stomach is doing all sorts of weird things- I reckon its because I've changed my diet completely. I'm just living on eggs, tuna, chicken, bananas and green tea now. I feel fresher but I think my body is adjusting.

Also, I was doing squats yesterday and I realised that all this time I was using a Barbell attached to a machine and that is apparently not good for squats. So I did squats yesterday without that machine- and man, it was a whole different ball game. My legs felt like jelly. Also, I've gone up to 160kg on the Leg Press (but I think I can push more easily). 10x3 on that, and 10x3 squats.

I don't know a decent third workout for legs. I usually do a standing calf raise where you stand on the edge of a step-box with the balls of your feet and have weights either side and raise your feet so you're leaning forward.

id recommend trying to take your egg's with a small shake at least. ive never had trouble downing raw egg's when mixed with something.
