EMPEROR
As in title, I don't know where these vacuum lines go... IF they are connected anywhere at all. The engine is VVTi TT, so I am not sure if these are used (I am not sure if it's just the wrong support plate), but there is nowhere these to be connected. Also there is a vacuum line just on the back of the intake manifold, is it going to the charcoal canister? Thanks in advance!
Bailey.
I believe the 2 on the left head off towards the throttle body and possibly power steering pump. And from the right they join the vacumn cannister behind it. As for the one on the inlet mani, im not sure, that goes to my fpr on my car, hope that helps at least a little. EMPEROR
Yeah, but my vacuum canister is already connected to the system, and there are no free connections on the TB either. But then again you are with non-VVTi engine, right? I guess this is just obsolete on the VVTi, but want to be sure. As for the inlet manifold, that is the only place I am not sure where it's connected and it's the only place that can go to the charcoal canister, but I hope somebody with VVTi can confirm. EMPEROR
Come on guys... Anyone with VVTi? Few shots would be enough...
merckx
I very much doubt that the vvti is different to an earlier none vvti engine. I could have a look this afternoon if I don't forget.
EMPEROR
I found on some pics that the one on the back of the intake manifold is connected to some plastic box and then it goes to the charcoal canister. Don't know what the plastic box is about and what part number does it have. Still trying to figure out the vacuum lines on the support plate... Ian C
The vac lines in your first picture, on the support brace, are part of the EVAP emissions system, the thing that recycles petrol vapour and so forth. Not essential to the running of the car
EMPEROR
Hmmm haven't thought about that... Thanks! But still don't see where these vacuum lines go into the engine... Few pics would have cleared all I guess... Even looking at the vacuum lines diagrams, I don't see it... nonVVTi: VVTi:
JODY T
These are not used on the vvti, the pre vvti engine has a solenoid next to the boost canister under the inlet manifold and it utilses the pipes on the bracket.. Guess Toyota has loads of old brackets lol mine is exactly the same
JODY T
The one at the back of the inlet manifold goes to the charcoal canister.. See pic
EMPEROR
Thank you very much mate!!! Just tell me, the one at the back of the inlet manifold, does it have a plastic box before the canister? If yes, can you read the part number on it? I see some of the VVTi engines has that, others don't... Thanks in advance!!!
JODY T
Mine doesn't mate, it's just a pipe size reducer but then for some reason it goes back up to the same size again lol just pipe it straight into the canister..
EMPEROR
Looks more like some kind of a valve to me, but yeah I've seen it connected straight to the canister, so I will do the same. Mystery solved! Thank you very much once again mate! :friday:
JODY T
Maybe it's s one way valve? Dunno lol
EMPEROR
Just found a pic of what I was talking about (I didn't write the text on the pic). So this plastic thing is right before the charcoal canister... anyone have an idea what this is?
