bigbloodyturbo
there are no 'bulb' replacements for the ac unit as it had mostly LED's to begin with. There is for the speedo/tacho but i would advise against it as they are cr@p even when they are workign properly, pretty soon one or two LED's in each array starts to drop out and it just gets worse untill you cant read your dials at night. If your going to swap to LED's do it properly or pay heckler to do it for you.
JS2004
DIY is fun, but only if you dont mind ripping it out and plugging it back in several times I somehow ended up picking out the wrong LEDS so the temp dial on mine is purple whilst the rest is blue O_o If you cant be bothered with the fuss (To be honest I like taking stuff apart and putting it back together) then pay Heckler, as he does a cracking job. CustomIce
If you're going down the DIY route, buy decent LEDs, not sure on the size but for lamp replacemt applications in the dash some 5mm ones should do it. Osram and Phillips make decent ones that last. You'll likely need some resistors too. 0.5W should be high enough for the current and 850 to 1000 Ohms is usually sufficient. RS components beats Maplins hands down for price and range IMO Looks of the following characteristics: Radial leads (two legs at one end, they only work one way round) Light dispersal- usually in degrees, bigger is better for this Clear or frosted lens - clear gives a "bright spot" in the LED frosted disperses the light more but is often dimmer. Light output - Lumens or candella, depends how bright you want it, 120 is pretty dim - mobile key backlight sort of stuff.
JS2004
The LEDs I bought were from the http://www.component-shop.co.uk/ I believe. Much cheaper than Maplin.. I would never shop at Maplin again after seeing the price comparison. I think it worked out about 5p per LED from componentshop and £1.60 per LED from Maplin.. huge difference. As for resistors you can get them easily off ebay, as well as the Zener Diodes. Think the full kit bought for me to do it myself was about £40, which included a shedload of single core wire (can never have enough!) plenty of solder, the soldering iron / removal tool, all the resistors, LEDS and spare LEDs, diodes and the breadcake needed to build them on. It was a pain though to do so if you dont have patience let the expert do it aka Heckler
