Ambulance Chasers...!!

What is it with these people?

I am sat at home working on my laptop and whatever channel is on the TV in the background all I can here is "Have you had an accident", "Were you injured and it wasn't your fault?"..etc etc

Is it only me who is sick of these ambulance chasers? I told one where to go last week whilst walking through Wigan. They had a big canopy set up in the high street and a team of 4 of them were stopping people walking past trying to get them to make a claim.... One asked me if I had ever had an accident that wasn't my fault? I told him I peed my kecks whilst drunk, does that count?

I am now trying to get insurance on my work car and all the premiums have gone up by about 20%. It's because of people like this that insurance is costing everyone a fortune. After recently having a serious injury after some idiot slide tackled me in a game of 5 a side I have considered sueing this particular guy but I would never go to any of these companies that tout themselves in TV adverts.

The barrage of never ending adverts for different ambulance chasers has now made me switch the TV off...:(

Rant over, for the moment.

Where theres blame theres a claim :)

Apparently. Maybe people should just "Man Up" and deal with stuff instead of pointing the finger at someone else.

You can't nudge another car without someone getting whiplash or if someone falls over it's the pavement at fault.

That advert did make me LOL. I thought if this is your profession surely you would know the ladder was "of the wrong type".

A woman knocked me off my bike by cutting the whole corner on a blind bend.

I am not claiming compensation for injuries(because it didnt hurt), and my bike only cost £85 quid to fix via ebay parts.

She is saying it was my fault.. (even though i have pictures of her skidmarks through the apex of the corner, right up to the kerb back on her side again where her car ended up)

She is claiming for whiplash, soft tissue damage, sprained muscles, loss of earnings (time off work 10 weeks) and ive spotted her round asda with a neckbrace on.

There is a scrape along the front wing of her car, there was no frontal impact, yet declares her car is a write off.

£85 vs £XXXX (for figure sum :D)

Funny, I want it to go to court. :p

Like if they got injured playing a physical sport, for example?

Exactly..!! I thought I would just run off a broken ankle and massive ligament damage. Instead I decided to have 8 months off work, lose my job for the hell of it.

This was a two footed lunge in a friendly game of 5 a side. On the basis that I played for the first time in 22 months last week I have been avoiding getting into that situation again. One idiot does not mean you should give up your life and the only form of excercise you actually enjoy. And NO I have not sued the guy.

Unfortunatley, in my experience, there are plenty of idiots playing football (you should see Sunday league!) - in fact, most team sports I can think of - which means that it's pretty much impossible to avoid the risk if you play such things - even so-called "friendly" games.

I've been hospitalised myself several time due to various sporting endeavours.

Sports will always carry risks of injury but when an opponent is reckless you should be able to sue. On the other side of that, there will be people who are not injured but are looking for a bit of free money at someone elses expense.

I suppose you are never going to get people being honest when there is significant amounts of money at stake.

I've been off work for the last 7 months after fully dislocating my shoulder when I slipped on the ice/snow during work, my work says I'm still un-fit to do my job safely so won't let me back in. I haven't tried claiming a penny, but I'm slowly thinking of doing it as I have a mortgage to pay and my funds are getting very low. Also I live on my own so have lots of bills to pay, should I claim Paul? :D

What do you do? Are you genuinely injured? Was it works fault that you fell or is it a grey area?

I'm a mobile heating and ventillation engineer and work on my own when at work on various sites around England and Wales. I've seen occupational health and they said my work should take me back in, but also said I shouldn't do any heavy aspects of my job where the work is above my head. My work is still stalling and said they can't promise that I won't be put in that situation. I'm not injured as such anymore, but still having physio and I don't have 100% movement or use of my shoulder yet. Bit of a grey area on if it's my works fault or not, at end of day I slipped over on some ice. But my work did have me working nearly a 24 hour shift hours before my fall. Only reason I haven't tried suing is because I hate people who claim for everything.

I therefore think you have been unlucky to get injured but it really isn't their fault or negligence that caused the injury. It's a good employer that stands by people who are not able to work and do their job. My ex employer were tw@ts, our relationship wasn't great before I got injured but they then came around my house while I was in plaster and basically rubbished everything I had done for the last three and a half years. I responed by kicking them out (with my good foot) and telling them to warm up the solicitors...!!

In the end I walked away with a decent payoff but not enough to cover me for the amount of time it took me to get straight.

I'm thinking that too, I was just very unlucky and there's not much I can do :( Your work sounds worse than mine, suppose I should be grateful my work has kept my job open for me.

I'm now looking for another job as driving about all the time and going to call outs miles away was starting to annoy me even before my fall. Looking for an on site engineer job now.

I've been off 7 months and my money has become low, but I've still kept hold of my Supra. Hope you keep yours too :)

Not easy if you aren't earning. I know in the 8 months I was off (6 injured, 2 looking for a new job) the stress of not earning and going forward financially can be very upsetting.

With regard to the car. We need to make a decision, there are all types of complications at the moment. I have a company car, Vicki is due one after Christmas as the Celica was bought just to get us by for 12 months while her new company gets going. We then have the Supra sat there doing nothing most of the time. I was trying to consolidate three cars into two practical fast ones.

Totally agree, I became very stressed when I was in a sling and unable to do simple tasks because of my injury. Also watching my bank account go down and not being able to work has made me a bit stressed again recently, when your off sick with an injury for a long time your mind gets sick too :(
