Guest hoylegj
My supra is now 10/11 years old with 45k on it, and it just doesn't fell as good as it did, power on power off slight wander, tyres wearing uneven. Steering not as good as it was. And I'm wondering which bushes cause problems and should be replaced, spoken to various toyota garages and they just don't have the knowage of the type. It sailed through the MOT and mechanices have looked at it, but agian with such power it clear something wearing, they just can spot it. I accept I can have it all adjusted but adjusting soft bushes dosen't seem the correct way forward. Should I use poly bushes, thats another question, do they last? Many thanks Geoff. Ian C
It could be alignment problems, or it could be worn bushes. If it's the bushes, you have to replace the whole suspension component, i.e. an entire wishbone, due to the nature of the bushes Toyota used. It's expensive but certainly sorts out the problem. People have had varying results with polybushes, and the cost of pressing out the old ones and fitting the new can get close to the cost of new suspension components anyway. It could be a worn shock or odd tyre pressures as well.
Westy
As stated when it comes to suspension/steering components it can be very difficult to pin point the cause of a fault with some trial and error!? I'd start with a re alignment as a pot hole or similar could have knocked something out!? ........4 posts since Feb 2010...and no pics bud!? How long have you owned the car considering its a 2000!? merckx
If it's the bushes, you have to replace the whole suspension component, i.e. an entire wishbone, due to the nature of the bushes Toyota used. You can buy polyethylene bushes for the wishbones, maybe not as good as the stock ones but buying new wishbones is expensive. Bear in mind that in May 96 the Supra was facelifted and the bush sizes on the lower front wish bone changed but you can buy them.

Guest hoylegj
a few pics added, need better ones :-) thanks for your thoughts, goes in next week for a bit of work and will see if they can find the issue ;-) Edited July 18, 2011 by hoylegj (see edit history)
Ian C
You mention that the car took a heavy shunt up the rear in your other thread - probably be a good idea to make sure the chassis is still straight if you haven't already
