Is anyone else having problems running games on they're SII's? First week i had mine it was fine, i tried a load of free games with no problems. The last 2 weeks i've been offshore though the games freeze alot, sometimes after 15-20mins, sometimes after as little as 2-3minutes. I've tried closing down all the backround programs to free up the RAM but it still freezes. May have to take it back to the shop when i get home.
Dan, that is a feature my friend :D

If you loose your phone you can display your contact details on the screen, lock it and render it useless, GPS locate it on google maps, wipe it all via remote destop

Is that not all sales patter though? Surely if the GPS was turned off and the internet was turned off there is no way that AVG could actually do anything?

Have you ever had your phone stolen? I have.... twice. Both times I have phoned it as soon as I have realised and the phone has been turned "off". I'm guessing this is because they immediately threw away the SIM card as soon as they had my phone in their possession.

It's a nice idea and in a perfect world all crims would be dim, but unfortunately most aren't.

You can wipe your phone remotely, surprised Samsung dont have Icloud equivalent; Sony has had it for years

just playing with my S-II, downloaded a few neat programs (recommened by the almighty Scott M, reference first page for details - a must do) and was wondering if andriod can be also be jailbreaked like the iphone, allowing free downloads.

ive found this linky link : http://jailbreakandroid.org/

is this the process, or is there an easier method??

Thanks :D

Almost everything is free anyway bud. There's no need to jailbreak the Android as the development side isn't anywhere near as restricted as iTunes is. For every paid app there is generally a free alternative.

Yes no need to "jailbreak" (actually called "rooting" on Android) just to installed "free" stuff. If you find a particular app .apk file to download somewhere then you can just install it anyway, just need to enable "unknown sources" in your application settings.

Although I know this, I have been reluctant to attempt any .apk's that are floating around due to the question of "are they actually OK to use?". I mean... these are paid-for apps/games, hacked/whatever and released 'free' right? So what's to say the source hasn't been modified to do something nasty once it's on the handset? Is it just a case of try it and see, and find out the consequences when your phone dies or your bank gets emptied?

Not to mention the morality of using them in the first place, of course... :innocent:

Yeah, but even "jailbreaking" will make no differene to that. Jailbreaking an iphone doesn't get you access to all the iTunes apps for free, it mearly gives you the ability to install non-official software. There are still lots of software via Cydia that need to be paid for.

The SGII allows you to do what you like with it, within reason, right out of the box.

any idea how to remove the text app and replace it with go sms? waste so much time searching for sms app when standard one is there would like to swap it over but can't find the menu to change the 4 icon menu that follows all windows.

Scott, you'd be glad to know I have ordered a S2 to add to my collection. So far it feels fairly quick but the icon & layout makes me feel like I am holding an old Symbian based phone!

I'll be having a good play next week!

I don't even use the apps folder. I just use the live wallpapers for everything I need. The standard icons are a bit meh though, but I've replaced most of the standard apps with the things I want to use.

Check out the wireless tether/hostpot feature though... that'll cure what ails you :D
