Rude and threatening energy agents

So times are very hectic for me as I've recently moved house and also now fallen ill. Got a knock today from a sales guy from SSE trying to sell me leccy and gas. Very pushy and demanding. Also rude whe. I questioned him about the figures he quoted saying I am bad in maths. The last straw came when he made distasteful comments about my family which was borderline racist. I would've hit him with the baseball bat right next to me if it wasn't for my wife.

Anyway, is there anyway I could make a complaint? I reckon calling SSE/whatever they are called are useless? the picture in his ID doesn't really match his real person too.

Next time I won't ever let anyone like this in my house ever.

You let him in your house?!

Have a walk around your streets - they'll be covering a certain area and there will be more of them. Find out the firm they work for and complain direct. He won't be an SSE employee - he'll be employed by a third party firm. He'll get fired for that if they're doing their work properly.

Well he sort of put his shoes in the door gap when I opened it so not as if I've got much choice but I don't expect to be verbally abused in such a way. Maybe he thinks intidimation works but he is really making my blood boil. I think he is working with an agency as well as the picture clearly doesn't match him. Shame on Southern Electric for using such people.

Loads of firms do it mate - Sky certainly do. The guy can't put his foot in your door like that though. I'd be complaining ASAP if I were you.

i know because me and my mate worked for them. (i now work as a hgv mechanic he now works for scotish power) we both left because of the way some the sales men got there sales this inc swindling the figures to make them look cheaper. Find there customer service number and open a complaint

Sounds like you were to naive mate, letting him put his foot in the door and being that forceful with you. I would have told him to f*ck off straight away

Yeah I'm pretty ill as well so mind pretty hazy but whole experience ruined my already dreadful week... On a related note I know a "mate" who is on a month long paid sick leave even tho he is jolly healthy while I'm struggling to take more than 2 days off even after been asked by doctor to sign off for a week to recover.

Life really sucks for me now :(

Oooooh, I love these when they knock, talk them down in seconds and even went after one when he mumbled under his breath as he was walking away, he poohed himself. To me they are so useless at selling and it's very entertaining, baiting them and then having a go :D

When I worked for Cable TV/Phone in Wigan we were told to do this on the sales course we had. Just knock on the door and when they open it start walking in. I never did it as it wouldn't happen in my house so I couldn't see me doing the same.

There is no way I would have let him in.

I feel sorry for older folks or young women at home alone, this sort of behaviour shouldn't be tolerated.

I'd complain Jono!

I am sorry to hear you are not well either mate, hope you are on the mend soon. Then when they call again, you can dish them out a quick slap ;)

You should have asked him to excuse you a minute and returned in a G string then asked him if he fancied a bum !!!!!!

pmsl on second thoughts, go with Dudes idea or maybe try a bow tie and a sock strategically placed

That's absolutely shocking behaviour. That sort of thing just doesn't happen here (well not that I have ever heard), I dare say the insurance bill for the sales guys would be incredibly high if they did put themselves forward that way here right enough. Definitely get right onto the company, if you remember the guys name that is. There is no way he should be working in public sales if that is the way he conducts himself, way over the line IMO.

Yes sales guys tend not to take no for an answer, I don't take it personally they are goal driven and that's the way they do their work, but to actively stick their foot in the door? That's like something out of a movie. Next time just suggest that if he doesn't remove it you'll be claiming it as a trophy/warning for your door :D

I hardly bother to answer the door to these fools anymore, and as for starting to walk into your house you should have pushed him out and shut the door.

had a classic on sunday, some charity people in purple aprons, could see what it was though the front door, so ignored the constant knocking and went back to my game of call of duty. The guy then appears and knocks on the lounge window and starts talking to me thorugh the open window. Seriously now just bugger off! he couldnt understand why I was annoyed even when i pointed out he no cold callers sticker on the door.

Nightmare the lot of them. Had to throw a guy of of my grandparents house as he was massively pressuring them over swapping enery companies. That was N Power tho.

I have one of these on the front door, it helps a little but most still ignore it.

Couldnt agree more. I have zero tolerance for cold calling to my door or phone.
