Guest Skullface
I know the earlier TT manual used a larger 220mm crown wheel Diff Bxxx series. And later TT models reverted to the 200mm Axxx series used on all the others. My question is, is the actual diff housing also much bigger (enough to interfere with the chassis), are the flanges and driveshaft splines the same ... is it a simple swap in essence? oil coolers etc all can be taken away so no worries there.. David P
I believe it's a straight swap other than one of the drive shafts requires changing too because it's a tad shorter. Can't remember which side.
Nic
Left diff B, right diff A. As said, one of the drive shafts on the larger diff B is shorter, you can swap between the 2 but you'll also need to swap the driveshaft. http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/2994/supravsoarerex8.jpg
Guest Skullface
Ahh, thanks for the pic, its clear how and why now.. if those are the right way up, its the left side thats shorter. Makes sense I guess, need to loose an inch in total length, why stock up on two new sized parts each a half inch shorter, just make up the inch on one side alone.. only one new part for the Kat. Actually its to fit a '99 LS400, so going for the Bxxx wont be an option, the shorter driveshaft wont exist for an LS, unless it just so happens to use the same shafts as the Supra also. The Axxx series fits just fine. Solved.. thanks Nic
Guest Skullface
Righty ho then, I'm after an AxxB or D Diff, anything LSD and Axxx considered. Ideally an A03B/D, but I'll consider anything and just swap the guts/crown wheels over from my diff to retain ratio. Any advice where I might find one?
