rwdwiganer
Hi, I will be having a custom made downpipe and front section to possibly fit to an off-the-shelf 'cat-back' system, but have no idea what pipe diameter to go for?! I will be using a GT35r single turbo set up in my soon to be 2JZ RX7, but have no idea if to go for a 3", 3.5" or even 4" system? Any help would be really appreciated so I can go ahead and order the pipe I need! Cheers!
JamieP
If you dont mind the noise, the bigger the better ive found.
Gaz6002
3" should be fine but I'd go for 4" because you'll get bored at some point
welshbuddy
there was something on here the other day about exhaust sizes, suposanly the bigger the pipe more power it will let through, ask JamieP , as he said using a 1" or 1/2" smaller pipe felt like he had lost 100bhp.. ill try find the thread for you . rwdwiganer
Ok cheers! Wasn't expecting what answers i'd get with this question! Lol so basically bigger is better?! I won't be going too crazy with the tuning, if my funds stretch as far as the GTX3582r price, i'll be going for that over the earlier GT3582R... I think I should of asked what would be the ideal exhaust diameter for up to 600bhp atf lol
djtimodj
Idle diameter is 1.5 x the turbo exhuast wheel diameter. I think a 3.5-4" would be fine for any amount of power you gonna make with a GT35 size turbo mate!

The RX7 is bloody low, think it would be a bit of a squeeze getting a 4" system under there lol...
