heartworm
Just bought a Tuscan, but don't pick it up for another fortnight, couldn't resist the draw much longer, just the look, the sound, the feel, it's all such an experience.
supra dan
Just bought a Tuscan, but don't pick it up for another fortnight, couldn't resist the draw much longer, just the look, the sound, the feel, it's all such an experience. thats how i feel. if you never do it because of the cost one day you will regret it. if it blows you can always fix it then sell up Had a Supra then a TVR T350t and sold that 6 months ago to get another Supra. The main reason was the arrival of baby. They are lovely cars to drive, a real event when ever you go out in them. Sounds and looks to die for. Everybody looks and want to chat about it. The main reason I sold was the running cost, you have to be prepaired for +-£3000 per year for servicing (yearly or 6000 miles) and general bits and pieces. You cant really do the work yourself as everbody looking for one wants the service history. You also need to be able to afford an engine rebuild if it so happens. I short, great cars but expensive. They can be fantastic but also do your head in. If you have got the money go for it. Spend many hours reasurching on Pistonheads (many, many, many). The TVR community is quite small and someone will know the car. Some nice people but a different from here. Hope this helps. Zippy cheers zippy sound advice. how are they different? not a bunch of snobs are they? the TVR club had a meeting at crail drag strip a few years ago, i raced one (and lost) but chatting to the owner he seemed like he was taking the piss out of the silly japanese car with big spoiler. bit of a knob

You will find that most do think TVR's are the only good cars that ever rolled the roads. But also there are some great people as well. I went along my local monthly meet the other day and only 2 out of the 14 gave the Supra a second glance. If you join the TVRCC don't bother with their forum as it is used very little. It's all on Pistonheads, nice bunch on there really, loads of info. Remember buy as good as you can afford and get the car profesionally checked over. Could save you alot of money. Cheers and good luck with your search, They are a hell of a car.
dude
Both Tommy and Simon have worked on TVR's for years, Simon worked at TVR dealer. They both said that the regularly driven ones have far fewer mechanical problems than the rarely driven pottered about ones, the elecrics though can have a mind of their own, we have a Giff 500 at the moment which having been around them for around 21/2 years would be the only one I would own. Yes mate rover engine based, remove the cats and fit bigger cam and map and they are a real handful, will run low 12 quater miles like that, Tommy built a twin turbo one that got nicknamed the coffin, it was quite hilarious. Chris Wilson
There were a load at Oulton on Tuesday when I did a track day there. All the garages were pre booked when I got there, not living far away I usually get there early and grab a none pre booked one. Some sneering yob asked what I was looking for, and I told him an unbooked garage. He said the TVR Club were there in force and had booked a lot of the garages weeks ago. I couldn't resist telling him I didn't mind them going to the TVR Club, they were a needy cause if anyone was.... I did enjoy lapping him in 4 laps, too By the afternoon adjustable spanners, tank tape, multi meters, exhaust "crutches" and much head scratching activity was to be seen in many of their garages. Saying a TVR is a good replacement for a Supra is like saying a does of clap is a good replacement for a mild headache.
kermit2
Bought a 4.2 cerbera 9 years ago and out of the 3 years I had it 2 of those years was spend in the dealers being repaired the windscreen wiper packed in on one occasion 6 months later and £3000 spent I finally got it back no wiring loom diagram could be found (TVR said its up to the individual who wired it and he no longer works here) so Lucas spend 3 weeks going through the wiring to find the problem, total nightmare. Finally swapped it for a tt manual supra and what a difference still got it now superb quality compared to a tvr TVR's reputation for build quality finally caught up with them, I think a Russian tried to rebuild the company but to no avail in my opinion stay away from TVR's unless you just keep it in the garage to look at, or are prepared to spend lots to keep it on the road
