gavin.starr
I have just had my computer wiped clean and vista put back to factory. I purchased what i thought was an up to date version of kaspersky but its actually the 2010 version. Is it worth me installing this or should I just take it back, get a refund and buy the 2011 version? On another note should the windows vista home premium come with microsoft office or not, as it doesnt have it? Gav

(and I personally would get rid of vista for win7)

(and I personally would get rid of vista for win7) Ive heard a few people say that but for the amount of time i spend on my laptop im not too bothered as its still quite expensive to buy. I know that dell have a backup centre so if you have to wipe your computer you can download the original factory software to your specific computer is there something similar that ACER do or not? edinlexusV8
If you are happy to pay a few bucks for upgrading then I suggest you to upgrade from Vista to Win7. Windows 7 is faster n comes with better protection from viruses. For home/personal use you should be ok with AVG Free antivirus + Free Spybot Search n Destroy (anti spyware) OR there is also free Microsoft Security Essentials (basically an antivirus) + build in windows defender (antispyware). Abz
I'd personally invest in a decent antivirus software, I was at a Sophos conference last week & we were discussing how internet security has changed hugely in the past 5 years! Viruses are more scare ware based, more IE based rather than e-mails as like before. Though like you said, if you are rarely using it then Kaspersky or AVG is okay, just ensure you keep it up to date.
scotty71
I just use Malwarebytes and thats it. Ive never had any problems PC wise.
neo2810
Scotty, you're probably a bot and don't know it in that case Kapersky is one of the best small enterprise AV/firewall apps around. You will be ok with 2010 as well. It uses the same virus signature files as 2011, you just miss out on a couple of features you probably wouldn't use anyway.
