Cut out when warm

Monster supra

Recommended Posts

I have a N/A Auto

Starts well from cold but when the car gets to normal driving temperature it will cut out when i stop & wont start again until it cools down.

The supra has a split relay that links to the optima yellow top in the boot (fitted by audio shop)

Puzzled on this one.

Any ideas

Indeed, sorry, not very helpful I know.

First of all get the fuel injection (EFI) relay checked. Sometimes a resistor goes and the injectors shut when the engine gets warm. Easy fix as far as I know.

From there you start looking at fuel pump I imagine.

Have you checked for error codes?

I have the explanation mark light on the dash on

The book says stop & check

Done the diagnosis check & getting no errors !

You must have errors if the master warning light is on?

As far as I know, if a resistor is faulty within the EMI, it wont affect the injectors performing until it cuts them off when the engine heats up, which sounds very much like what you're experiencing. There are much better placed folk on here to offer support than me though so feel free to wait for a second opinion.

The light is on when i turn the key to the 2 position but its not flashing.

When i start the car when its cold the light goes out as normal.

Had a battery tester on it yesterday & it only had 55% starting power

Got a new battery on the car now & runs better.

Before it would run but when i stop at traffic lights the idle would go so low then cut out & wont start.

Now it idles ok at traffic lights but if i shut the car down it wont start nice for about 30 mins .
