LOGIE
Ive nearly been caught out a few times with a flat battery by accidently leaving my sidelights on at some point the previous owner must have disconnected the headlight chime which sounds when the door is opened and the engine is off. My question is where would the likliest place that rhis would have been disconnected so I can remedy this? Im assuming ALL supras have a chime of course? Many thanks in advance. Scott
I think the lights one is a constant beep? Keys in the ignition is a bing bing bing noise
TLicense
The ignition chimes, whereas the headlights turn off automatically on mine.
LOGIE
just digging up one of my own old threads, where would the most logical place be to disconnect the headlight chime? I need to get it working as i got caught out on saturday with a flat battery...again.
straightsix
Have a look under the driver side dash. You might see two plugs that look alike to re-connect. You'll need to remove the lower dash trim (the large one with diagnostic plug and bonnet release mounted on it)
Suprab1
Lights should turn off them self when keys out, engine off & door opens. If that doesn't happen then check fuses, my transit stopped chiming & when i looked at the fuses the chime was linked to the number plate lights which had blown a fuse. listy
Mine don't turn off on their own (I don't think ) never really checked. Mine does let you know though.
Suprab1
Mine don't turn off on their own (I don't think ) never really checked. Mine does let you know though. Do you have a turbo timer? If the timer is on & the engine is still running they won't turn off.
Guest Budz86
Didn't think they'd be able to turn off by themselves? Hence having the chime to warn you they are still on
David P
Drivers door courtesy light switch has 3 wires, 1 goes to the Avon Lady and has most probably been cut there.
listy
Do you have a turbo timer? If the timer is on & the engine is still running they won't turn off. No turbo timer mate. Maybe it's UK spec or facelift that turn themselves off?
Suprab1
No turbo timer mate. Maybe it's UK spec or facelift that turn themselves off? Mines is 93 jspec & turns them off. See David P's post above.
bigbloodyturbo
mine is a 95 jspec and my lights turn off when the key is pulled out, I do get a chime when the keys are left in and the door is open though.
a98pmalcolm
Mine is the same, engine off, door open, bing bing bing. LOGIE
Just got back to this, been really busy. I dont think the lower spec cars (Like mine..SZ) turn the lights off automatically. Im convinced they were turned off/disconnected by previous owner. So as straightsix says i'll investigate under drivers side dash. Normally tech stuff im ok with but wiring/electricals give me a headache. Thanks to all above suggestions i'll siff through them all and report back regardless of whether i find a solution. Cheerz all
David P
Supra integration relays are specific to the country it was made for, regardless of spec. Easiest first call would be to take out the door courtesy switch and see if one of the three wires has been cut.
