rwdwiganer
What is the best price you have seen one going for if you don't mind me asking? I'm not 100% on the clutch and flywheel, i'm only going off what I've been told tbh. Was around £800...
Swampy442
1JZ clutch and flywheel? Do they fit a 2JZ? Yup, thats what Im going to be using 1JZ fly and Soarer clutch
Scott
Yup, thats what Im going to be using 1JZ fly and Soarer clutch I may have missed it, is it not being fitted to a supra then?
rwdwiganer
Sorry, no it's for an RX7 FD conversion i'm doing. They hate me on the Mazda rotary forum and i've only been on a week lol... I wasn't at all negative towards the rotary either, I just like straight 6 engines! I bought the car a couple of weeks back, haven't even driven it! I just want to get a real engine in there and get the rotary out... I know I need a 2JZ, the RB25 in my Datsun is good, but 400atf is about it's reliable limit IMO... Ahh, yes you are going the right way about it. If I was a foot shorter I reckon I could be tempted by a 2JZ RX7. In that case my knowledge is very limited. For supplying engines always go with the official and recommended traders, they are recommended (and official) for a reason. You can't really go wrong with Keron to be honest. Who is doing the shoehorning?

Didn't think a 2jz would fit in the rex bay, I'd imagine it would be too tall. They are a bit heavier than the rotary aswell! The 1jz is lighter and shorter. Revier too! Give keron a bell. I was up there last weekend. Had a tt engine sat ready to go and a geerbox but dunno if it was sold or which box it was. He also has a few other cars being broken but unsure what engines are in em. He is also a real nice friendly chap. The tt lump will do 400 fly all day long easily and cheaply. Stock internals are good for 600+ if your going single. But I'm sure you know Any pics of the datsun? Edited June 24, 2011 by Guigsy (see edit history)

Most of the work will be carried out by a local engineering company. I am fortunate to be in a position where I know the owner of the company, and he is more than willing to make his own kit (possibly using a Supra subframe to fit) and fit the engine and box into the car. He will also be manufacturing the 4 inch downpipe to suit and any other fittings I will need. The electrics and wiring on the other hand, I haven't looked too much into yet! It's a mint, white R33 GTSt spec 2, RSP tuned 407hp atf. I love the car, but I want something a bit different and I love JZ engines :-) Keron will be my next call for sure! Does anyone by any chance know anyone in the Manchester area that could take the wiring on including fitting stand-alone management, turbo timer and boost controller? Obviously this could well be later on in the year, but nothing wrong with planning in advance!

Who needs a bonnet?! lol... no really something else I will need to look at, but will be much further down the line. My RX7 was only £1500, not sure if the engine is too healthy but will be doing a compression test hopefully later today. Will then be selling the engine and box if all is well. Fingers crossed it is ok! I bought the car with no MOT and with quite a bad leak from the radiator. I wasn't too concerned about the rotary engine in it, if it's ok though it's a bonus... :-)
Chris Wilson
I might well be interested in the FD engine if I could see and hear it run and do a comp test, depending on what value you put on it, of course
rwdwiganer
Hi, did manage to do a comp test, the front rotor gave really good results but the back rotor looked to be lower. I have had the car running but it was a pain to start! I'll be taking the engine and box out at the weekend (hopefully!) and on to ebay or the rotary forum I think! Chris Wilson
Thanks, if it's a pain to start it usually means rotor tip damage, I'm out, but appreciate the post.
Little Matt
Spoken to Alan (Blackie) on the phone tonight and an amicable and satisfactory agreement has been met by the both of us. I have supplied over 50 used engines to other forum members, some to this forum with very good results. Engines which had faults were rectified thorugh replacement engine, part or refund agreed with customer. I know I have had issues with the fitting of conversion projects, but to date have an excellent used engine and gearbox and aftermarket parts supply. Sorry Mods if this is in breach of forum rules, I am not trying to promote my company, merely defend it and put my side of the factual story on the table. Clearing up any confusion there may be. Chris Wilson
Matt and Blackie are now looking for a small house together, and considering a civil ceremony to cement their new special relationship Glad you have reached a suitable agreement, it's nice when members can resolve what started as something seemingly very acrimonious in such a way.
