Abz
Haha brilliant, the council are seriously 'some' of the most stupidest amount of people I have met & dealth with in my life. How charge they charge us £2,000 a year & have trouble with collecting the bins alone! They also seem to use some pretty dumb contractors who charge stupid amounts of money to carry out work. We had £50,000 spent on our local park & they put 2 huge logs which I think you sit on & a swing, then a zip thing with two wooden poles at each end oh and a climbing frame. How a 2 week job to do that cost £50,000 I have no idea.

Homer
To be fair, that wasn't entirely the councils fault, more like dumb workmen. Still pretty funny though, makes me wonder what the workman were thinking then they put the fence up!

Still pretty funny though, makes me wonder what the workman were thinking then they put the fence up! Nope entirely the councils fault. The contractors would have followed a scale drawing (architects or estimators) as any deviations would be their own fault and they would be liable for any costs, so even if the drawing was wrong they couldn't be held to account if they followed it to the letter. No doubt because it was a price job they would have carried on erecting the fence even through the goalpost to get the job done and to be paid. The council would have been at fault for not properly surveying the area first before drawing up the plans, so many armchair officials who won't leave the office and probably had the plans drawn up from the back of a napkin from a michelin star restaurant. Four years experience from doing jobs for the council has led me to conclude that half the problem is just this, not sending anyone out to properly examine jobs like these! I am sure they called someone at the office, most likely told "look, I don't care what the problem is just finish the job, I am very busy right now, I need to finish my online shopping"
keener
"It has left local people who use the park to play football confused." Hmmmm, well I reckon most people who play football are confused. ;-) Controversial! Waits in anticipation for the backlash. :-) Or you could say that it's good that they're all upstanding members of the community who don't know how to move the goalposts so we all know where we stand then!
