ManwithSupra
If you wanted to run higher boost with the first cat in place you can safely do this with an EBC right? I ask as i wondered about high EGT's etc.
ManwithSupra
Anyone?
Thorin
I wouldn't personally, second cat yes, first no. It might be OK if you're only going to 1.0 bar, but temperatures are going to get toasty.
ManwithSupra
As i thought, thanks for your reply mate Just Going on from this, as people know EGT's are always a problem when your bringing up power (with a Cat or not) so how do you control EGT's effectively? merckx
Most people who want to leave a cat on the car remove the first one as it's more restrictive than the second.
Nic
As said the 1st cat is the most restrictive of the 2, running 1.2bar with the 1st cat in place will generate potentially dangerously high exhaust temps. For the best results I'd remove both, if you want to leave one cat in place just remove the first one and leave the 2nd one fitted. I'd also fit an EGT gauge so you can monitor temps. EGT's are not usually a problem with both cats removed, with the restriction of the 1st cat in the exhaust the temps could go dangerously high running higher than stock boost. The only way to keep the EGT's down with the cats in place is to not raise the boost level.
