scunner
I know this may be a silly question but is it possible to install a front mounted intercooler with the standard front bumper? If so would the active spoiler need to be removed?

If so would the active spoiler need to be removed? Yes you can fit an FMIC with the stock front bumper. The active spoiler needs to be either remove completely or just remove the motor, etc. and have it permanently locked down.
Josh
You'd also have to check that the stock airbox doesn't get in the way of the pipework. Some seem to, others don't.
scunner
Thanks guys. Had a feeling the active spoiler would get in the way. Didnt think about the air box though? Cheers.
Dnk
There are plenty of places you can buy intercooler pipework from along with silicon hose connectors so keeping the airbox is easy enough to do and not very costly
Josh
Thanks guys. Had a feeling the active spoiler would get in the way. Didnt think about the air box though? Cheers. Some kits seem to fit and others don't. Just wanted to make sure you knew that first. Listen to Dnk though as he knows what he's on about due to his vast years of experience
Chris Wilson
You loose the stock ducting to the water rad and air con rad when you fit a FMIC, thus reducing the efficiency of these items quite dramatically. A good stock mounted aftermarket side mount IC has been tested and proven to keep intake air temps very low on members cars making well over 500 BHP. scunner
Thanks for all the advice guys. Might just go for an aftermarket side mount to save any hassle. Any ideas on what sort of cash these run at?
Chris Wilson
I do an uprated side mount that quite a dew members have bought, and could give unbiased comments on. I have to order in an absolute minimum of four units, but someone else has shown interest. The price would need assessing in view of material cost increases in recent times, but about £700 plus VAT. There's a photo of the last one I sold in this thread: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?233173-ONE-ONLY-Chris-Wilson-stock-mount-alloy-TT-intercooler&highlight=stock+mount+intercooler
Tyson
Don't you have to re locate the coolant reservoir too and fiddle the PAS lines?
