Bobbeh
I am spending a week up there next month for work. Anyone know anything cool to see and things to do in the town (particularly in the evenings)? All I know is that Frankie Boyle just rips it out of the place! so would appreciate non negative comments lol Cheers!
monsween
It's a dive. (Its more non-negative than what i really wanted to say) PS Get the train up to Aberdeen for the weekend, and we'll show you a proper night out
jonathanc
Nothing much happening in Dundee I'm afraid. There's the Discovery which is a very nice boat The High Street is nice for a walk but that's about it... Pretty small "city"... few clubs/bars around but not very good ones... Cheers for the offer though Nothing much happening in Dundee I'm afraid. There's the Discovery which is a very nice boat The High Street is nice for a walk but that's about it... Bobbeh
Friday night! Stay the extra day and go home the Saturday instead of the Friday. LOL by the sounds of it I'll be wanting to cut my wrists by Friday! Plus work wont cover the additional hire car/hotel/change of flights costs I can assure you Is there anything in Carnoustie other than the golf course? bigbloodyturbo
Dundee is pants, your better nipping down the road to Perth. Not a huge amount more to do but atleast you wont get jumped by some jakey tw@t who likes the look of your shoes. I live just outside Dundee and I can't stand the place. Aberdeen all the way if you want a night out, but then I work there and are moving there so i'm biased:)
Scott
I went ice skating in Dundee many years ago. That's about all I know of the place lol. Aberdeen is decent for a few nights, been there with my mate before and enjoyed it. As you're just looking for something to do Perth might not be a bad shout, it's not much to see to be honest but the drives all around there are lovely. st3ven1
http://www.dca.org.uk/ Nice place to visit for lunch or a few drinks. Has a small cinema also. Duke's Corner in the town does better than average pub grub, but does have a massive selection of beers on tap, I'd guess around 50:D laingsbar.co.uk Or Laings Bar if the weather turns nice as it has a huge beer garden with an outside shed/bar, great atmosphere on a sunny day. http://www.sensation.org.uk/ If you like a science centre, usually very busy with school groups during term time. http://theplaywright.co.uk/ If you fancy a posh sit down meal. http://www.taza.co.uk If you fancy vast quantities of very average Indian food. Again if the weather is good then take a trip to Visocchi's Cafe in broughty ferry, beautiful Italian Ice cream, that you can then enjoy with a walk along the beach. If I think of any more then I'll post them up. See, it's not all bad.
bigbloodyturbo
Ok I'll agree with the playwright, if your there for a week go and eat there, food really is good, just across from the dca IIRC. Just dont complain about your rissotto being hard, i got told it was al'dente and then ignored for the rest of the night the last time I went. Finished a lovely evening off as I got done for speeding on dock street on the way home.

Bobbeh
Hey thanks for the additional replies, in particular yours st3ven1. I like the sound of Dukes corner I agree with the Perth sentiment, stayed there a couple of times and it is a nice town with plenty of places to eat!
