Guigsy
Was thinking today. My old lip was fibreglass and forever showing stone chips and scuffs. Now I'm having a new one vinyl wrap might prevent the chips a little. Who knows, worth a try! So flicked arround on eBay and ordered myself some. I saw some being pimped as no bubble. I'm a bit sceptical but the pics look good enough for me, it was cheep, 30 quid for 1000x1500mm. Which is all good for me as it's my first try. So don't want to spend loads on something I suck at. And it looks like a good "3D" print. Apparently there are air groves in the adhesive that let's the air escape easier. But we will see about that lol. I also should have enough to cover 2 stock 17's. So I'll maybe give my drag wheels a makeover. Carbon with a red lip Anyone ever used this no bubble stuff?

TubbyTwo
Not tempted with 3M Di-noc then?
Guigsy
Saw plenty of that but don't see what's so special in the pictures. Will see what this is like to apply when I get it. And I couldn't get it in a big enough bit cheep enough to keep me happy.
TubbyTwo
not having a dig, its currently meant to be the best realistic copy of CF out there.
Wez
I wonder if I could use this on my bumper lip, might tidy it up instead of the silver flaky paint
Guigsy
not having a dig, its currently meant to be the best realistic copy of CF out there. I know mate. Just after my crash don't have the money to splash. If it's crap I'll use it to line the shelves in my car model cabinate or something
Guigsy
I wonder if I could use this on my bumper lip, might tidy it up instead of the silver flaky paint That's what I was thinking. I'll let you know what it's like when it arrives. If it will stop stone chips I don't know. But with my fg lip painted black even a slight chip would show up a lot. staples230uk
I'm very interested in this thread too, would like to see the results as I had someone step on my front lip (and no it's not swollen lol). I am thinking of repairing the GRP then carbon wrapping it instead of getting it resprayed. Hope it works out for you and very keen to see the outcome
Guigsy
Well it's arrived. It's a good pattern but doesn't look as good as some other stuff but it's got a real texture on it. ^For the price it's great imo, not going to complain! http://tapatalk.com/mu/5298d170-a392-691e.jpg I'm about to test it on a bottle I had laying arround. Here we go. Just a quick go. ^But turned out ok. http://tapatalk.com/mu/5298d170-b222-7035.jpg

ulysees
Looks good bud, does it bend and follow curves ok? how pliable is it?
Paul
I got some of this a year ago but still not got round to doing anything with it, did read up on it and found that you can get a primer/adhesion promoter for it that 3M do. Called WP3000 it's water based and I've tried it on a switch blank, half treated and the other half not, the results are impressive. Costs about £15 for the primer but it helps stick it to tight curves and stops it bubbling or lifting in the future so makes a proper job of it. Guigsy
it does go quite stretchy and bendy with the heat. you can pull it arround curves and stuff. as long as the curve isnt too dificult and with a bit of practice it should be fine. have to be carefull not to get too hot. seems to stick well. and if it doesnt grip ive found after applying some heat even if it doesnt need it makes it stick a lot better. SilverSoop
I was at Le Mans this year and was staying at a Villa and a chap with a Riviera blue Porsche GT3 turned up and it was done with Vinyl wrap, looked really smart and an unusual colour, looked fantastic It was originally Porsche grey, looks much better now though lol Do it Guigsy
TubbyTwo
That looks pretty good compared to some of the stuff i have seen. Loving the photo frame lol!! For body panels i would give It an IPA wipe down first to remove anything, and then apply it, using some weak soapy water to enable you to move it around. A felt burnisher is also a good purchace, dont cost very much
NathWraith
Looks very similar to the stuff carbon mods do. Their wrap is awesome
Paul
I do prefer this to the material type wrap that is glued on, seems to keep the contours of the original panel better and looks 'crisper' and more defined in it's finish.
Guigsy
It's a bit odd. In some lights if the light is hitting it face on it doesnt look a lot like carbon. and close up it doesn't. But from a foot or 2 away it looks fine.
Guigsy
Well my lip arrived today and I've spent 2-3 hours wrapping it lol I'm a perfectionist and it's not perfect. The areas arround the edges of the holes are a pita. It doesn't want to stay stuck down. For the mo i have put slits in the wrap and put a patch over the top. I might re-do these sections if I decide they look crap tomorrow. I've spent too long looking at it tonight . http://tapatalk.com/mu/5298d648-b44a-b0fa.jpghttp://tapatalk.com/mu/5298d648-b475-6c78.jpg
jazz1
I love the lip, especially with the ear's cut.
Guigsy
Just need to check it's all still stuck tomorrow then I can give it to the bodyshop when my last part gets into Toyota. Then they can start putting the car back together and paint it.
