Ok get this i went to do a cavity wall today for an elderly client. Now the work is free to him as hes over 70.

I drilled a hole to check the cavity was atleast 50mm. Which it was, i then drilled a few more and checked....Again fine. Well the next 2 i drilled came up at 40mm which is a no no to do cavity wall.

I tried to explain the problem to him but he went off, calling me all the names under the sun. So i phoned the people who make the rules and asked them for advise, they were on speaker phone. They told me "walk away" Again i tried to tell him, by now he is saying hes a debt collecter and i dont know who he is. Now he starts saying he will sue me for the 12 holes even tho i made them good he was saying he will sue for damage!!! Again i tried to get him to see i was trying to protect his house.

He said he will call the police, few more C words thrown in at me. Lastly saying his "crew" will make the Krays like like children.........Just let him know when i want to go back and do it!

Never ever had that thrown at me before. SO im now awaiting some bent nose geezers coming round to "sort me out" and or a trip to court

Where do you drill the holes? It's not in the middle of the wall in his hall or something is it? Are there rules that you have to cover up the holes if it turns out that they don't meet the requirements or do you have to just say "I've knackered your wall and I can't help you, so I'm off"?

Sounds like a bad situation.

In his outside wall between the joints as per cavity wall is installed. If i had have tried to do his house he would have ended up with some 40 holes on that wall alone and the cavity wouldnt have filled correctly. I cemented them in as i would have if we had done the job.

Then I don't see his problem. Maybe he just doesn't like you...

Odd.

I don't see the issue then to be honest. In your situation I would probably let the police know to be honest. If you were doing it on the side it's one thing but to take that sort of stick in a professional level isn't on IMO. Just tell them what was said, on the off chance of hassle more than anything.

Yeah i was thinking that. However its so stupid its untrue.

He is said that if i just do it he will sign the form anyway! Even if the wall wouldnt be filled!

Im thinking hes an old con man waiting to claim against something. Worse still he would have waited for me to do the job then found fault anyway. Its pure madness, i turned the job down as it might cause an issue with his house.

Trouble is, I like Raven. But something doesn't add up here at all. There are too many holes in his story.

Raven you say.

Maybe the old guy was napping, when gently he came rapping, and so faintly started tapping, tapping at his unfilled wall?

I must admit if that's the case I can see the old boys point.
