Septic
It's a yahoo article so I would take it with a pinch of sale but no more speed bumps (or less of them) is definitely great news imo. If only our roads were as smooth as those in the States; we could lower are cars to silly ride heights. http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/13062011/36/goodbye-speed-hump-0.html
Dnk
I doubt any will be removed due to the councils budgets being cut so if you have them now then they will be here for years to come.

Yeah you're right. More 20mph speed zones also could be a massive PITA depending on how many they start introducing.
Dnk
20 mph zones in the right places is fine with me, far better and cheaper than great mounds of tarmac being laid across the rd.
Scott
20 mph zones in the right places is fine with me, far better and cheaper than great mounds of tarmac being laid across the rd. Totally. I've never had an issue with the 20mph zones, especially the "twenties plenty" zones where the limit is 30 but it's a caution area. Common sense tells you when to take it easy on these roads, it's the idiots that need the speedbumps to wake them up occasionally.
Tony
They dont work on normal cars anyway my BMW stradles them, dont even have to slow down.
jackso11
my road should be a 20mph zone but its 30, and the people who go up and down at 10pm or later seem to think there is an extra 0 on the end of that.
shaf
no more speed bumps! i cant remember the last time one was put down anyhow. the forkers put them down all at once and that was their budget gone so much so that they cant even afford to repair roads now! R Black
I'd be glad to see the back off road humps, my hks dragger hangs pretty low so theyre a royal pita for me, 20mph zones would be prefferable. The roads stateside are generally better, but not everywhere, there are dips in Manhattan you could lose a Supra in.
Chris Wilson
Could councils not remove the speed humps and use the material to fill in the holes in the road? Thus saving money?
Gaz6002
Did anyone read the article?! It doesn't say anything about speed bumps going, just that there's more scope for 20mph limits in residential areas as it's easier to implement them. I'd have thought that in order to enforce 20mph limits it's more likely there will be more humps and bumps and lumps. Not less. It's misleading and pretty shoddy journalism IMHO

Konrad
When I'm visiting my family in Berlin, there is quite a few 20 mph zones and it's enough for people to slow down, no need for speed humps.
