jaymdee
Power steering went a few weeks ago with a leaky hard pipe off the rack. Had to get car home about 400 yards, a few corners and onto my drive. Have replaced the pipe thanks keron) and flushed the system with a few litres of Dex III, as per the guide on here (it leaked everywhere, lol). Bled system - no air bubbles and level not dropping At idle the pump has a very quiet noise, but audible, but when turning the wheel a very audible grating/whining noise is heard, which continues until load is taken off the steering wheel. Is the pump (or god forbid, rack) knackered, or should I drive it tomorrow and see if it settles down? cheers
bignum
Try it tomorrow jay, leaving it overnight will allow the fluid to settle and the small air bubbles to go, worked on mine ok, just double check all the pipes/unions are tight so the system doesn`t draw air in. jaymdee
Well drove it and the steering works fine but pump a bit noisy. Will see if it gets louder, but I think it's going to be a new pump
