pedrosixfour
Is the boostlogic pulley a smaller diameter than an OEM unit?

pedrosixfour
I'm running a Gates Micro-V, 6PK1840 belt on my NA with the AC compressor removed. If all the pulleys on your build are the same diameter as the pulleys they've replaced you'd be fairly safe with the same size belt as mine. The idea is to get a belt which keeps the belt tensioner under as much tension as possible. Get someone to hold the belt tensioner in full tension with the belt in position while you clamp off the excess belt material at the power steering pulley using a vise grips, that will give you a basic idea of the belt size required. I'm on pretty good speaking terms with my local motor factors so I brought a couple of similar length belts home with me, fitted the most suitable and brought the rest back the next day. Is there a possibility you could do the same? Edited June 13, 2011 by pedrosixfour (see edit history)
Rob_Mitchell
Yeah got lots of motor factors we use who would help, just wondered if anyone knew thats all. cheers mate ill get onto them
pedrosixfour
The belt size I run would be a good starting point. Here is how you'd get a fair idea with the pulleys you are using though.
Rob_Mitchell
Gates Micro-V, 6PK1840. getting this belt sent over now just going to try this belt first then, fingers crossed its correct from the start or its going to be fun and games

pedrosixfour
yeah im not using the ATI mate, i have a feeling the boostlogic might be the same size as stock but ill soon find out, unless someone has the diameter of stock? The diameter of a stock pulley is 145mm. Bear in mind thats a stock NA pulley mate, I've no idea if that measurement applies to a TT pulley. Also, that measurement is the diameter at the widest point of the pulley on which the belt runs, i.e. the tips of the grooves, not the outer lip of the pulley. Rob_Mitchell
i have ordered the belt so should be here any minute, my motor factors are diamonds so i can send it back and try others
Rob_Mitchell
just measured and ine looks very very close to 145mm, fingers crossed then cheers for all your help you have been great mate

But don't even think about asking me how the belt might be polished! Actually did you ever investigate the possibility of a coloured belt, like HKS have done with the timing belt? pedrosixfour
just got the new belt and its way too small your pic is wrong by the way It should be like this then (sorry mate I was going from memory, the enine is sitting on the garage floor with no belt on) But I've just refitted my 6PK1840 (number verified) and it fits perfectly like that. Rob_Mitchell
ha ha thats better. i have just ordered a 1893, the 1840 was miles too small so obviously the crank pulley is different and my measuring skills are poor
