Guest Budz86
I've been having problems with my BPU 6 speed and not being able to get the power down. Feels like it's the clutch as when boosting over 0.9 bar it's starting to slip. Also feels a bit slugish low down but when I'm booting it in 4th/5th it seems to be accelerating better. I've not noticed any problems when driving round town normally (car is a daily driver) but the bite point is quite high. No noises either which I thought was a symptom of a knackered flywheel. Might have a slight judder but if it is happening I've put it down to me not being smooth with the peddle. What sort of things should I be seeing/hearing/feeling if the flywheel is shot? imi
Why do you think it's the flywheel and not the clutch?
bradleyh_15
Good luck with finding the problem mate and fingers crossed it a cheap fix!
Scott
Sounds more like the clutch is at the end of its life.
Homer
As above, have the clutch checked first, with a high bite point and it slipping it's more likely to be the issue. The flywheel can only be inspected when the box is out.
Guest Budz86
Would it be possible for the symptoms to be that of a worn clutch and then on inspection it be the flywheel?
skippyboyo1
i always thought it was the clutch being worn out that wrecked the flywheel?
snake
if the clutch plate gets worn down to the rivets it can score the flywheel. if you put the handbrake on. Put the car in 2/3 gear and lift the clutch pedal as if to pull away if the cars revs just go up and the engine doesn't try to stall the clutch is on its way out.
