This gets asked every week, please use the search function.

Also tell your friend that the Buggati Veyron is slow too, that also has an automatic transmission.

On second thoughts, just stick to playing COD.

Your friend needs to look into what he is talking about rather than throwing info around, it has made him look daft. The cars are pretty much identical in terms of weight, the suspension is the same, the engine is the same, even the little buttons on the dash for the air con are the same. The auto is a good car mate, it flies, you just have to put your foot down and hold on for dear life!

Use the search function - have a read before you ask many questions - as many questions have been discussed a lot and many facts are in many threads on this forum.

If your friend is neither a) An owner of a supra b) A previous owner of a supra c) A mechanic that works on them - how would he 'know his stuff' as you say in post 3? I don't say I'm a professional myself, but have been an owner of Supras for over 9 years now so hope to have learnt a few things - having owned a non turbo, a modified single turbo, a manual as well as an auto, an import as well as an export.

But I am curious to know how many cars have different suspension geometry / setup due to their type of transmission. I know spring rates etc vary on the import and export models of a Supra, but many other things do and so the spring rate differs because of the weight difference of the vehicle as whole (hence why the UK spec are sometimes called 'lardy'). But the same marque/model car just the transmission difference? Apart from extra coolers, or less/more ECUs and a few looms, I don't think many have huge differences.

I would advise reading the following threads chap :

As it is a little bit pointless sometimes also asking questions without context - in any subject. If you don't know what you want to ask about, it makes questions harder to understand and also can be a bit annoying if a question on this forum has a very good answer (i.e. the FAQ above about model type / differences).

I'm not being sarcastic, nor being nasty here chap, I'm trying to help you out - we were all new to these cars at one point or another, some on here are far more mechanically/systematically minded than others too - you'll find many on here who are here for style cars / street cars / stealth cars / track cars / stock enthusiasts / the 1/4 miler at a time people :) / oh and Matt H.

Once you've read up and start asking questions that are a little more in depth, have tried using the search function and taken the time to research before just reeling off questions you'll find the 'sarcasm' you talk about will vanish like the mist.

As some religious person once told me - "God helps those that help themselves" - well... so do the mods. And the members here.

I hope you find your stay enjoyable

Thanks mate - yeah i can tell your not being sarcastic and nasty , cos when i read i read as if someone was speaking to me in person .

im glad i can report that there is no differance other than manual and auto , , and my friend doesnt know about the supra much and nor do i much yet , however he is a car mechanic , but i must admit i thought the same about the supra,s autobox when it was first suggested to get a supra auto , ithought " no im not gettin an auto as the fun is taken away " i thought that , but since you lot have all said what a fine autobox it is and what it can do then im more than happy to buy an auto supra , my friend was i think was tarin all auto,s with the same brush and has clearly made a mistake as would most who havent tried the auto supra , my friend loves mitsubishi evo,s more than anythin so is quite biased towards them i think lol. Also he does know his stuff thats why i wanted to put what he said before the supra faithfull and experts , to clear this dispute up as usually what he says tends to be right after i do a follow up and check it out , just clearly he is wrong in this instance .

thanks to those who replied without the sarkmalark and actually gave an answer .

to those who didnt well i cant really say what i wanna say , as i,ll be banned so i leave it at that ........

just a few things ...

what does TLDR mean

what does OP mean ?

and why are you saying " i hope he doesnt get one " what the hell is that supposed to mean ?? why would anyone say that ?? its just like me sayin " i hope you dont get another supra !!!!!

, however he is a car mechanic

I dont mean to be rude but that means absolutely nothing, ive had many young mechanics under my wing over the last few years who claim to have all this 'experience' and have these 'qualifications' and i can tell you now not one had the slightest clue so that is a bit of a bold statement in my opinion.

As mentioned in a previous thread you'd do best to go to a local meet and get a drive out in a few different cars, that way you can form your own opinion rather than rely on others.

The auto is superb on a supra, but personally I wouldn't have one.

why do you say that ??

Profanity is strictly prohibited but I'll give it a whirl.

You have joined a forum that is in my opinion quite well thought of, with respected members, respected opinions and respected cars (all variants, not just Supras). We have been there, seen it, and made the t-shirts. Members have ploughed 1000s of pounds into their cars only to have them fall around about their ears whilst some have built amazingly fast cars on a shoestring. The knowledge I have gained on this forum, and continue to gain, is mindblowing to say the least. I trust the information and collective knowledge on here so much that I will be using it to go ahead and strip my car to the bare bones over the winter whilst never having done anything close to it before.

And yet...... you join this forum with your Forza driving experience and "online" expert friends asking the stupidest of questions with the amazingly ludicrous of backstories and expect a genuine response? And better yet when you get a genuine response you discredit it because your COD mate knows better? If you aren't a plant then you are one of the most dillusional UK citizens I have seen join this forum in a long time (and we have our fair share I can assure you).

You genuinely come across like a kid that has watched a fast and furious movie and decided to join a Supra forum......... honestly... you really do.

If your questions aren't blatantly obtuse then they are repeats of the same old dross that gets asked on here every single day by every other F&F wannabe.

I would gladly pay you £10 to never log onto this forum again, and I am serious.
