Hi i was just wondering what the differance is between the v160 and v161 gear boxes is it just one is for n/a and one for tt as i know they both are 6 speed and there is a tt 5 speed and a n/a 5speed boxes that are differant?

Thanks in advanced :)

The gear ratio's are slightly different (more evenly balanced) and supposedly the v161 has an uprated 3rd gear syncro amount other some other smaller changes.

The v160 and v161 (in the late model cars) was used in the TT, the NA 6spds only got the v161

The 5spd was never available for TT's

How does the change in gearing affect the acceleration? Is it noticeable?

The gear ratio's are more evenly balanced, over a 0-200mph run it won't make much difference, but will obviously perform differently through each gear compared to the v160. It's essentially a nicer box to use day to day as the ratio's between each gear are stepped more evenly.

The ratio's are a little longer 1st - 4th, so will be *very* slightly slower in acceleration through those gears, 5th is the same and then 6th is shorter.
