bl4stin
Hi again , just wanted to ask a few more stuff as im looking into gettin an auto supra TT and its about the exhaust system , i was reading on here , on the bpu thread , if you have the 2 cats removed and a straight through exhaust system is put in place inc 2 de-cats , this automaticly without even physicaly touching anything else raises the boost presure to 1.6 bar ??? if this is true then it also says the j-spec turbo,s cant cope with that due to the wastegate not being big enough , well to combat that would it be viable to put the uk wastegate put in to make it able to cope as ive heard this is big enough to deal with the extra boost ?? safcdixon
ok as far as i know its also the blades in the jspec turbos which are weaker than the uk ones, if you are gonna twin decat just buy a restrictor ring bout a tenner i think this caps the boost pressure a 1.2 bar. ps no need for the attitude!!!!!!! johnny g
Lose the attitude mate. It won't win you any friends
TTRickeh
They are internally gated wastegates built into the turbo's exhaust housing. If it was possible to modify the wastegates to be bigger (or just swap over to uk turbos) I don't think it would be worth the hassle or cost. Just use a restrictor ring. TheTurtleshead
You can only run 1.4bar on the standard manifold with uk spec turbos( in decent condition) If you run any more boost you do not get any more power due to the constraints of the Manifold, you just get heat
bl4stin
whatthe hell are you on about " lose the attitude" i havent even said anythin !!!!!!! , does the restricter ring hard to fit ??
safcdixon
no easy too fit just slots in between the decats like a gasket would. ^^only two posts left!

Branners
There are a number of discussions around j-spec turbos vs UK spec turbos. The UK specs dont overboost with a full decat as they run smaller and heavier internals to the turbo. The wastegate if bigger is only fractionally and to move that wastegate to a j-spec turbo would mean honing out the wastegate and it just wouldnt be worth the hastle. Safe boost for j-spec is up to around 1.3bar, but fueling is getting iffy above that so you need supporting mods.
