gavin.starr
I currently have the HKS Mushroom and I have never liked it. I just wondered what the better options are out there and what peoples recommendations are. Its a twin turbo jza80. I was thinking about the Apexi kit, but just thought i would ask first. Gav. stevie_b
Unless it's highly modified, I'd recommend stock.
gavin.starr
That would mean me having to find all the original box and pipes etc... which I don't have. Its only at BPU so no major mods really.

Dnk
Apexi is one of the best filters but for the best results the stock airbox simply because it has 2 cold air feeds from outside the engine bay. Induction kits suck in hot air from the engine bay so not ideal

Nic
Rubbish, i've got the HKS R spec on my car and use the stock airbox ! It's only the Ebay FMIC that can have problems, most branded FMIC's will fit with the stock airbox.
gavin.starr
Mine is an autobahn 88 of ebay about 2 years ago so it may or may not fit. How much am i looking at for getting a stock air box and pipes etc... Or would it be cheaper to make a separating panel out of ally to stop the intake of warm air. Nic
I just wondered what the better options are out there and what peoples recommendations are. As already said the best option would be to fit a stock airbox, it should work out cheaper than buying a new induction kit. Its a twin turbo jza80. I was thinking about the Apexi kit, but just thought i would ask first. Rather than buy a complete kit, you could just swap the HKS mushroom with a better quality cone filter (K&N, Apexi, Blitz, etc.)
cje001
Rubbish, i've got the HKS R spec on my car and use the stock airbox ! I`ve a aftermarket I/C and i know others who have (not Ebay) and the stock filter i tried to fit was mms off fitting but it was simply just too tight - prob could have gone on with a load of work and pushing etc
cje001
I had the mushroom filter and ended up buying a proper filter element for it off Chris Wilson.
gavin.starr
Its not the fact that its not working properly I just don't like the look of it, its horrid.
Josh
Rubbish, i've got the HKS R spec on my car and use the stock airbox ! Ah ok well I'd read before that the FMIC pipework doesn't fit with the stock airbox but you can alter the pipework enough to just about get it to in some cases. Marcus GTE
Nic, I have the stock box with a k&n million mile filter. How do you rate it over the stock filter? (sharing the setup I have incase it helps gav) Cheers
Chris Wilson
The stock air box and plastic feed pipe usually fetch about 35 to 50 quid used.

ManwithSupra
I had an Apexi Induction kit, but I decided to try using a Stock Airbox to see if it made much of a difference.... The Result .... I still have the Stock box 3 years later as it made a vast difference once the car was at full operating temp.
