kjgreen3
Just a thought but... Piston or slider pin/bolt seized? If its the slider pin its worth reconditioning it yourself if its the piston then source a decent second hand caliper or cancel christmas and and buy new from Mr T. Im currently mid way through freeing up my front Jspec caliper, but will check the sliders on the remaining calipers. To let you know new a new caliper pin/bolt is only 8 quid from Mr T (brought a set of 4 today) and the rubber dust boots (that protect the pin from dirt ingress) are around 3 quid each. Refurbing a seized pin is quite straightforward (if you can get it out without damaging it) will let you know if the pin is the problem and you intend on repairing the caliper yourself. mawby
One of the sliding pins was siezed, so I unstickied that but then found the piston itself was also siezed.

ulysees
Just had a look and mine are seized solid too, sorry mate. Have you tried pushing the piston right out and cleaning it and cleaning the inside where it sits, grease and push back in?
mawby
Not yet. The thing has been layed up for two years and the piston is rusty. I suspect that if I move it too much it'll just tear the seal and I'll end up having to replace/refurb it anyway. Thanks for looking.
ulysees
No probs. Push it out anyway, what have you got to lose? Im sure it wont be that bad inside if the seal is ok, might just want working in and out a few times.
Chris Wilson
I have a good LH rear J-Spec caliper. Not seized, but not re conditioned, just a good used one. Offers?
